Tread for a track day
Discussion
Hi,
Thought I might actually take to the track at Rockingham for the first time. I have about 2.8 mm on my rear tyres, do you think these will get me through the day ? (Standard fit S03's)
Don't mind putting some new tyres on, but would rather not until the following week if possible.
Thanks,

That should be fine unless you drive like a lunatic and strip them. New tyres would be a bad idea as they will have a lot of tread which is much more prone to overheating since it will flex so much. It can then come off in strips...

I've never seen this before. I've offen tracked brand new tyres and i've never seen them stripped.
Normally it's the oposite that causes issues, as as the tyres wear down, it becomes very difficult for the tyre to retain heat, and generate it.
When have you seen this happen ?
