It's the air con radiator/heat exchanger.

Yep - every car with air con has one. For your car you need to get down on your knees to see it. It's attached to the main radiator, down bottom right as you look at it from the front of the car, hence given the angle of the rad you'll never normally notice it unless you are looking for it.

It just looks like the US installer has stuck it in a different position, but I'm convinced it's the heat exchanger for the aircon given its shape.

Those US rear lights look sooooo much better than the ones we have here IMHO. Anyone know why we can't use them in the UK?

The lenses are the wrong colours. They have red indicators over there.
