2.5 GTO performance figures
Discussion
Hi All,
I'm getting a bit wound up now, I've looked in so many different mags and on websites and I get the following info:
0-60=4.1 0-100=10.4 top speed 165
0-60=3.9 0-100=9.4 top speed 155
0-60=3.9 0-100=9.4 top speed 165
Who knows what the real figures are?
I know the 0-60 is not that different and I would never manage it but I'm a tech freak so i won't sleep until I know.

The real figures are however harsh you wish to be to your car/ the amount of ability you have in getting your car off the line.
the reality of performance figures is anything claimed at under 4.5 seconds to sixty is going to be scarily quick. The kind of car where you dont even need to be in the right gear to see people off...
As with all performance cars, its as quick as the nut behind the wheel can control it to be.

I wouldn't worry too much about the numbers mate; after all, the difference between 3.9 and 4.1 seconds is less than from now until now !
Top speed's a bit relative really and entirely dependent on the conditions on the day. I would have thought 155 was a bit conservative though. I believe that Justin has some numbers from a few Vmax xperiments...
It's the drive that counts and it's awesome

The figures that we at the factory regard as definitive (and independent) for this model are taken from Autocar's very first road test in their 28/03/01 issue:
0-60mph: 3.9 sec
0-100mph: 9.4 sec
Top speed: 155mph (this was at 6700rpm in 5th on the Millbrook bowl. This 5-speed model was geared for a theoretical 167mph, but some speed would have been scrubbed off due to cornering forces)
60-0: 2.9 secs
Standing 1/4 mile: 12.5 sec/114mph
30-70mph: 3.2 secs
If you want to order the magazine containing this test, call Autocar's back issue dept on 08456 777 816 (select option 3).

I spent all day at vmax trying to get mine past 150. Best run on the day was 146. No headwind.
I have to say these cars are not about top speed. If thats a real issue for you get something a little more slippery.
