High Revving

Morning,

Not really sure what this could be! came out to the car yesterday morning and when I started her her idle has now risen and it is sitting around 1300 revs where as before it sat just under 1000, could this be the cold weather?? or something more serious??

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi David,

Not going to help but just to confirm I haven't had this problem with my 3R over any of the cold period.

All I can add is that the idle should settle down automatically maybe 10-30 seconds after cold start!

High or lumpy idle can indicate a broken lamda sensor. If or leaky exhaust (I've had both). If it doesn't settle down after 30 secs or so get it checked out.

Does it still rev high when you have headlights, air-con and blower on full?

Thanks for the info guys, booked in to get checked out, it drops a little when the blowers and headlights are on but not back to normal. hopefully nothing too serious!!

Booked the car into Murray Motor Company in Sighthill, Edinburgh The guys were very good very professional being its a Lotus and Aston Martin dealers, they had two other Nobles in getting new Engines put in them!!!

Simple fix a little hose to the right of the throttle body had popped off, I spoke to the factory before handing the car in and it was the first thing they asked me to check!!

Ah - sorry, hould have suggested that.

Stick a cable tie around it, pull it reasonably tight, and it won't come off again.

Likewise - very recently happened to me, except that revs shot up and stayed at 2000rpm at idle so it was blinking obvious that something had happened. Quick inspection found the vacuum advance pipe had blown off. This was just after fitting a BOV. Now nice and secure

Interesting Rob - when it was falling off on mine it made the engine "hunt" between 800 and 1400rpm.

As it wasn't described as that I didn't twig.

From memory it's called a MAP sensor nowdays rather than a vacuum advance.
