Steering wheel boss extension.

I believe there are some owners (with long legs) here who have fitted an extension steering wheel boss to bring the steering wheel closer to the driver.

Can you point me in the direction of what the options are, and where they are available

Also, what experience have owners had of a slightly smaller dia wheel? 320 ?

I have a momo "millenium sport" wheel which is much nicer and slightly more dished but still didn't bring the wheel close enough. Now I have a boss extension from www.demon-tweeks.co.uk As far as I can remember they do two types, fixed and 4 point adjustable (which is what I went for). The only thing to be aware of is that you may not be able to reach the stalks with your hands on the wheel and the wheel becomes higher the closer to you it gets, but it's a small price to pay for being a bit more comfy. So far I've tried raising the front of the seat for thigh support, headrests, new steering wheel, boss extension and had the the pedal rubbers shaved for more foot room and I'm starting to get really pissed off with it. A poor driving position is a big hinderance in a performance car.

I've fitted a 320mm wheel to my Noble that I can exchange with the oem wheel using a quick release hub.www.nobleforums.com/showthread.php?p=6504#post6504

The hub brings the wheel back a bit too. The problem with a 320mm wheel is that it may partially block your view of the gauges. That isn't a problem with my 320mm wheel because it has a dash display.

IMHO, the smaller wheel is less unwieldy and makes the car feel tighter.

Thanks for the info Andy and the kind invitation. Unfortunately I have to attend a Wintersports Trade Show ISPO in Munich which means I will miss the Brands track day.

So far I guess the option for me is a 60mm OMP spacer which I believe fits the standard Momo wheel. After that I will try a smaller 320 wheel, something like the Momo Millenium.

I really like the option Michael has gone for with Stack read-out for track use.

Overall, after more than 2 years ownership of my 3R I'm well happy with the driving position for leg length. At 6 foot 1" I have the seat back as far as it goes. It was only this weekend after driving the car for the first time in a while I really felt the steering wheel could do with being closer.

I realise that a smaller 320 wheel might obscure the speedo / rev counter, but after living with an older 911 RS (964 style) whose steering wheel obscured most of the speedo from 50 mph to about 120 mph, I can live with that.
