Vehicle breakdown recovery

At last my shiny new car is to be mine during July ( only 12 months after initial deposit) so I'm getting into all the other areas of preparation: insurance , and I wondered what, if any, breakdown cover you EXPERIENCED guys use?? I have done a search but not found much of note other than, don't use the towing eye and find one that uses a low loader or similar. Obviously I hope never to break down but stuff happens and being a good boy scout best to be prepared I can't wait to take delivery as Terry at Moley can attest due to my constant phone calls. Living in Bridlington now so another addition to the Northern fraternity Any advice or sane suggestions gratefully received.

RAC I've used for mine and they are fine.

The towing eye is OK unless there is a sudden "jerk" and they they can break (although this normally happens when you are in a gravel trap on the circuit...), and if you ask RAC for a "low loader" then everyone I've had can get the car on.

There is actually lots of clearance at the rear, so as long as the bloke brings along some wood to get the front up then it's normally fine.

RAC also have these groovy ones occasionally which take the whole flatbed off the back of the lorry, meaning that it is at a much shallower angle. If you say it's a "very low car" when you ring them it seems to be fine.

Mine went on the back of a low loader with the AA a few weeks ago, also if you take out there parts and labour cover for £40 per yr it will pay up to £500 toward cost of failure. My diff went and I was covered. As your car is new probably don't need it yet.

I've used Britannia for mine and they also sent one of those trucks which puts the entire flatbed on the deck

Thanks to the others for the advice. It may prove unnecessary as the company winning in the insurance stakes at the mo offer UK and European free of charge (or in the price at least!!)
