Reliability? Looking for advise here
Discussion
Hi everyone.
O.k i currently own a new 350bhp Impreza STi8, i enjoy this car and its a great drive but ive got another 4 door car to do all the shopping and running about it so i am going to move on to a nice little 2 seater sports car.
The Noble really has grabbed my attention and i have been and looked at one BUT i want the honest truth. Whats the running cost and reliability of these cars like? Wil lit have to spend more time in the garage than on the road?
I will be doing about 100-150 miles a week in it. Will be be o.k for this? Or is it purely a weekend car for when you want a bit of fun?
Thanks all

I've used mine more of less daily for 20 months without anything major causing any grief... only offroad time was when Roush did the exhaust prototype which was expected etc.. Its a great car imho, I did 14K miles in 20 months and mostly wear and tear bills.
Finally changed back to Porsche this weekend.

Searching in this forum for "running cost" and the like will give you stacks of posts on the subject.
In summary, it's a £50k car, so expect £50k bills. Services are every 6000, expect £1000-1500 and budget for £2k just-in-case.
In general the old cars now have all the foibals / weak parts replaced, newer cars (3/3R) have very good reliability.
Also, ring up Evo and get a copy of the Noble buyers guide on back-issue, it's the most comprehensive article there is around.

I swapped from a 335BHP STI8 to an M12 which I use daily. Not got a lot of room for shopping but I wouldn't change back now!
Only problems so far have been a slight coolant leak (sorted in 5 minutes) and the occasional whiff of petrol in the cabin when the tank's full on a warm day.
Basically it's a Mondeo on steroids. If you plan to use it hard make sure it has the LSD or you might strip the diff. Otherwise they are tough as old boots

I have owned one of the early "classic" 2.5's for nearly 2 years now....used for daily commute to rail station (about 25 mile round trip)...totally reliable and absolute blast to wake me up in the morning/wind down in the evening
I budget around £2k per service, and have finally had to succumb to the necessary (on "classics"
ECU upgrade (£3.5k). Pound for pound it has to be the best performance bargain on the market, and the best car I have ever owned, but it is in supercar territory and you shouldn't expect to be able to run it on reliant robin maintenance costs.
Good luck

I've owned my 2 year old 3R from new. It's never left me at the side of the road. Reliability has been excellent.
I second what everybody else has said here - keep aside between £800 - £1500 per service. Also note that you can use somebody like Vegantune or Plans Motorsport for your servicing and save a good bit of cash too.

Did a track day at a tight little cicuit called Guadix, and a mate had his B22 there, with water injection and all the bits. No chance!
Reliability? Had the car (3R+) nearly two years...exhaust bracket has broken twice, the nearside rear hub nut came loose a few times and it's needed a few balljoints. That's it.
Martin.

Ah thats fine then.
Running costs aint a problem, I spend around £500 a month servicing the scooby. She gets throw an AP racing performance clutch every 3 months which costs £1000 fitted and with the race spec oil and how well i keep her i cant imagine the servicing costs being much different.
Glad to hear they are so reliable. I guess being made up of Ford parts cant be a bad thing then.
I havnt driven one yet but im on the plan to getting it sorted out.
