Me again,
After living with my new GTO-3 for 3 days and 250 miles I can honestly say that I have fullen deaply in Love.
I have had to conduct the obligatory passenger runs for my friends and they have all been deaply impressed.
I think the best ride just took place when I took a biker friend of mine for a ride. He wanted to know how it would compare to his bike on our local country roads. Well all I can say was that every other word could not be writen on to these pages and at the end of the ride the phrase "That is a weapon" was uttered. We even had a chance to meet up with 6 high performance riders (His buddies) and have a little tussle. They spoke to me after and could not believe how much exit speed from corners I could lay down and were impressed with the tail stepping wide as I was leaving roundabouts.
Mentioning this has sparked a question of mine. I know not to give it the berries in 1st etc due to the weak link i.e. the diff. However, whilst getting to learn the cars capabilities etc I have been every so often getting the back to step out on the exit of a roundabout. Now I must emphasis that this is not a harse wack of power but more of a progressive slide with no tank slap. So my question is, do all you guys do this now and then(I would think so) and will the diff cope with this kind driving?
Again I always practice smooth driving but can't help but have a bit of fun?
Anyway, I must say a big thankyou to you all (Including David the cars original owner) as with out this forum I would not have been encouraged to buy a Noble and this would have meant that I would have missed out on what appears to be the most intoxicating time of my life so far!!!!!!

James, welcome to the dark side! I'm sure everyone here will have their own style of driving along with comments and advice to share with you but I can't understand why your getting the back to step out so much. I've only ever "made" this happen a few times in 10,000 miles - apart from on track where the rules are different. I'd respectfully suggest you take it easy - consider that if it were winter now you'd probably have stuffed your new pride and joy into a hedge (or worse!). Remember, Newtlon's laws apply to your Noble like all other moving objects! Also, I'm wondering whether perhaps you need your suspension geometry checked over?!

AMG Merc,
Hi mate, thanks for your reply. I haven't been doing this on every corner but must confess that I have provoked it on the exit of roundabouts a few times. Now I certainly wouldn't be doing this in poor weather conditions and I have only been playing when it is safe to do so and I have enough vision after my limit point on the exit of a corner.
The car is a peach and has recently had full set up on it's last service. I have also checked all the tyre pressures and they are now perfect (Was pulling to the right due to over incorrect pressure one side).
I don't want you to think I have been thrashing it, because this is not the case. I find the whole experience of driving my new baby a complete joy even at sensible speeds. It's just that I have enjoyed a couple of exciting moments as mentioned.
Anyway I shall not bore you are more. I hope to meet you all soon and will be attending the track day at Oulton Park. However, this will be as a spectator as I do not have a track day sump at present.
James.

Saucyboy...glad to see you got one, and that you're enjoying it
I can't speak with any great experience on the original diffs, but I'd have thought that it was the high rev/torque 1st gear starts that do the damage...not leaving darkies at roundabouts.
Martin.
PS - on the biker theme...I had three bikers drop to thier knees bowing at the top of the mountain road here

My 2.5 with open diff was much more happy coming out of roundabouts than either post LSD being fitted or the M400.
With the open diff allowing power to change so suddenly you'll going to find it 'interesting' in low gears. As people have said though, take care and be responsible, they can bite!

Its not uncommon for most Noble owners to have a wiggle whilst coming out of nice bends from time to time. It can sometimes however rather suddenly step out a whole lot further than you were expecting. Still wonderfully balanced and not as scarily as say a Tuscan can, but its worth haveing a good play on track or airfield to get fully used to it.
Also, I would say that you must take extra extra care the first time you get her wet as the dynamice change massivly!
I did a 180 and nearly put mine through the front doors of an office building in Cambridge on my first day as I had been getting to grips with the power and thought i had it sussed until it rained a little and nearly hurt me!
Worst thing was that it was the office where most of my mates work, and they were all looking out of the windows!
Enjoy it!

My diff went while taking a roundabout hard and going all the way round to come back on myself, I was in 2nd gear (I had just come off 5 other roundabouts on a nice quite evening so this probably din't help).
