I've got it !!!!! and its FUN
Discussion
I've just got home from collecting my gto3 6 speed
boy am I a happy bunny !!!
it seemed to take forever to sort all the paperwork out and in i hopped
down came the window and then up again it went when i realsied the air con was on
into third and then into reverse was the correct procedure and a gingerly backed it out - crikey rear view vision was not good !!
onto the road and a gentle pull away finding the biting point - into second - a little notchy but firm and precise - revs climbing slowly on light throttle the car doesn't want to go very slowly - it wants to rev
first impressions - crikey thats a mk 3 fiesta instrument cluster and a silly ford key ( I felt right at home I also own a mk3 fiesta track beast with 365 bhp at the wheels !!)
a short gentle drive to the petrol station and every one is staring at me ? have i got green hair - am i an alien - no i forgot i've got a noble !!
first problem - I've pulled up at the wrong side - so in again and I swap sides
next problem - opening the fuel filler - eventually i sussed it looking and feeling very stupid whilst people look at the car and wonder what the hell I am doing with the fuel filler
off the the attendant and i pay - on the way back I look and think crikey I own that one !!
off i go following my brother who has taken me over to get the car
i'm probably in 4th and poodling along behind - try a prod of the throttle - the car instantly pulls - no lag or high revs needed - this car has torque
I try the throttle again - crikey there is a lot more travel this time - I back off before I shunt my brother up behind
come to a junction - pull away gently in first and then off she goes quick short shift into second and then third and 4th - I look at speedo - i'm really moving now - 60 feels like 20 in a normal car - mental note I need my license for my job !!.
after a few twists and turns i get a feel for how the car doesn't need to get reved hard to get moving and i can use 3rd when i would normally use 2nd in a normal car
The ride is firm and a bit choppy on some bumps (m400 suspension) - but i'm not bothered
finally I get to give it some stick - I realise I had to move the seat forward to get full throttle ( this one has the ability to go forward a bit more than usual for people with shorter legs like me)
I brace my self for the eruption of wheelspin and opposite lock i expected and wham - it didn't even flinch - all the power went to the road - into second wre off again
crikey that was a bit civilised - I can even concentrate on drving and not trying to get traction.
anyway eventually we get to the dual carrigeway and my brother has toed it
foot down in 3rd and off she goes - nice and smooth the car is feeling the white lines and the camber in the road - into 4th as i pass my brother and then short shifted to 5th and then gently into 6th - i look a the speedo and i've just passed 150 oopps
I back off and drop down to about 90 - after a few miles my brother finally catches up
i'm grinning from ear to ear and have just realised i have been grinning from ear to ear for ages - I probably look like someone who has one won then lottery
I now drive round the m25 for a bit and guess what people actually get out of my way to let me past - now this is a novelty !!!! - people let me in when i indicate - they even slow down to take a good look at the car that was behind !!
i pull off onto some familar roads and get the chance for some roundabout action - crikey the thing turns in like a anti aircraft missile after its prey - I almost pull across to far and realise the thing wants to go faster round there - infact the more you push it the better it likes it - definately a car that likes a comitted driver. I guess the firmer suspension is coming into play and doing its stuff
on the loud pedal and its tearing up the next bit of dual carrige way like a scalded cat
i slow down to check my progress and my brother is nowhere to be seen !!
up comes a favorite bend - it went round a dream making the corner seem almost like it was much less that it really is - my cheeks are starting to ache from the grinning
now up comes a few more familar bends - i'm getting a feel for the car and how it likes to be driven - it passes a chicane (sorry roundabout) with a flick of the wrist and the dump valve is chirping away and before i know it i'm in 6th again
now i like 6th - nice and leasurely cruising - i'm getting the hang of hard on the brakes and down from 6th to 3rd and off again - I actually think i'm a race driver for a few secs and then get a reality check when i see the digits on the speedo again - mental note 2 I really need my license !!
its a few more twists and turns and some stupid vauxhall thing things he can keep wiht me for a bit - kaboom i'm off and the exhaust note is howling away boy my cheeks are hurting now
up to a set of lights and i sit there patiently waiting for green - lots of young lads are waiting to cross and gaze at me standing there forgetting to cross the road, green and i'm off - this time a bit too much of the loud pedal and the car is fighting for traction
boy i really am going to loose my license - i pull up behind a motorbike infront - it has no idea i'm there and i wait patently for it to pull over 3rd again and i'm off
I think i'm going to have to have botox injections in my cheeks before i rupture my cheek bones !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the club Gadgeroonie and muchos congrats!
RANT ON/ Sorry but one thing - and this goes for filling up just about ANY CAR JUST ABOUT ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD...
...the pump designers make the hoses long enough so you can fill-up from EITHER SIDE with any normal car - the amount of time some people waste in garages queing up for the left or right sided pump position instead of pullling up the ANY FREE PUMP astounds me! /RANT OFF

I can't say I've filled up yet from a pump that didn't reach either side. Ok, you have to do a bit of pipe lifting sometimes, and obviously use the 'pour the fuel in the pipe' method of inserting the nossle, but it's not hard.
Sorry about all the double-entendre's

He he he...I enjoyed reading that...takes me back.
I was going to say that maybe one day all cars will be this good...but I know they never will, man will have destroyed everything before it can happen. We are the chosen ones

Yep i'm having a great start to the relationship with my noble
- its so great to be a member of the club
i tucked her ( i'm not sure if its a he or a she yet) away into the garage tonight and took a long last glance at the rear before i pulled the garage down
I almost wanted to let it in the back door so it could sleep on the sofa or the end of my bed !!
she got filled up with BP ultimate ( it must be a she, I keep referring to it as 'her') only the best for my baby lots of people wanted to chat about the car at the garage !! and off to meet nickytwohats
had a good beer and a chat about all things noble - he is thinking of turning his into a track car when the M15 turns up and we agreed we are going to Le Mans next year in them !!
they looked pretty cool parked next to each other
nick took me out for a thrash in his and I think its fair to say he has mastered a particular roundabout !!!!
I took it easy today - didn't want to get too over enthusustic and end up in a headge after all of yesterdays grinning antics
p.s - Nick why are you called NickyTwoHats ?
