2001 & 2002 2.5's Differences & Silver colour types

I have more questions i'm afraid...

How many different Silvers were there? Is Silver and Titanium the same thing?

Are there any significant differences between a 2001 & 2002 2.5? Assuming the same mileage - given a choice of a 2002 with new ECU at £25,500 or a 2001 with an original MM ECU but 3 years warranty on the car at £24,000. What would you go for?

Two types...Larch Silver and Titanium (darker).

To choose between te two I'd have to see and drive them.

Whey you buy it, it's called gunmetal (It's actually lotus gunmetal).

When you register the car it's 'Gray'.

I have the track day sump fitted to my car, it was fitted as part of a six speed/lsd upgrade to the car.

In order to fit the baffled sump to the car with the engine in situ, one of the cross members has to be removed, then welded back after.

Not sure how many dealers would be happy to perform this particular job. Although I know VeganTune have done it in the past.

I doubt you'll get much change from a 1K.

Are you planing to track this car on a regular basis ?

yep, I can't remember exctly, but I think it's about £1,200

The sump itself is £450 + VAT, and it isn't easy to fit as Jools has outlined. £1k+ would be the correct price.

I'd also check the warranty...many of them are really quite restrictive and will not cover the ECU going wrong and it will cost you about £3.5k to upgrade, or they might be able to repair if for just over £1k or so.

If you're looking for peace of mind (which I assume you are given you are looking at a warranty) then I would go for the later model with the upgraded ECU....but then I would say that wouldn't I

Last year the Factory was doing it for 800 inc oil and VAT. They stopped just before I brought the car in Nov. I asked in January and they gave me the same deal.

I have just been to meet the chap who is going to inspect the car for me. He is based next door to Vegantune [some of you may know him - Gary] - very knowledgable and he is a big fan of the 2.5. There were lots of Nobles in there with MAJOR surgery going on If any of these are yours - I feel for you

Basically, he scared the cr*p out of me when I told him the car doesn't have a track day sump. I was hoping to do the the Nurburgring next year, but would have second thoughts about doing so without a baffled sump now. What baffles me [excuse the pun] is WHY produce a track orientated car that has the option of a track day sump which, by the sounds of it, is prone to go 'pop' when driven really hard without one? - Bizarre!!!

So now I am faced with the issue of a £1,750+ [minimum of 24hours labour] bill to have a baffled sump fitted, without cutting the chasis rail - which he says is preferable, and he should know. So - warranty or sump? Warranty or sump? Perhaps I should just wait for one to come along with a baffled sump at the right price, but I am fed up with waiting now. This is starting to become hard work - perhaps I should just give it all up and go and buy an Exige - which is back where I started looking, before I was tempted to join the Nobility

Sump or buy the Lotus and never know why we grin so much as we pass you in it! :-)
