considering a Noble?

Hello all, was just wondering if anyone could enlighten me to a few Noble queries I have:
1. What sort of costs are incurred in running a M12 GTO?
2. I would relaly want to spend no more than 30K, could I get a good one for that?
3. I do most of the servicing on my present 'toys' (RS500 and Mk1 Escort) myself, can you do major things, like brakes, clutches, yourself on a Noble?

Hi Lee,
1. Annual service/6k miles around £600 at most Noble dealers.
2. Yes, no probs getting a nice Noble for £30k (See the classifieds here for examples). GT03 or maybe 3R too. I prefer the 3R with its faired in lights, which also benefits from having the 6 spd box and LSD (some late GT03's also have it also though).
3. Probably simple enough to work on, if so inclined. Potentially could put off future buyers that don't know you or your level of mechanical expertise, if do some of the bigger jobs yourself. Most people prefer to see receipts from a specialist garage on cars like this. Not so important if keeping the car a long time or buying a cheaper 2.5....IMHO.
Go for it, great cars for the money and mine's been 100% reliable (M400) over 1yr/5k miles. Probably more fun than my Porsche GT3, I should maybe sell that instead!

This really depend on you to a large extent, and the state of the car you bought.
If you just want to do a few thousand miles per year in the car, then budget for around £1500 basic running costs per year, expect this to rise as the car gets older.
If you want to hoon about on track days, expect to double, or triple that amount. On lap on a track is like 100 miles of road driving.
The car is pretty userfriendly in terms of home maintenance. However changing the oil really needs to be done on a ramp, as sliding under the car to change the oil is a royal pain.
There are plenty of owners who do some pretty serious maintenance on their own car, one currently has his engine out at the moment !

Without a doubt ! 30K will get you a very nice car these days. If you buy privately get it checked over by an expert before you buy. If from a dealer, you should be in pretty good hands, although I think I'd still be inclined to get an independant check.

Given the right level of expertise there is nothing you can't do !
Due to the design of the cars, anything to do with the gearbox normally means an engine out job, so if you are happy pulling out an engine, you'll have no problems !
However, the later cars have stronger gearboxes and in normal tune should be ok.
If you experienced in fitting brakes etc, the noble shoud pose you no problem.
The Noble is a fabulous car, but don't buy expecting it to be cheap. If you nanny the car, it will not cost very much to run..... but where is the fun in that ?

All I can say is buy one!!!!!
I have had my GTO-3 for about 6 weeks and I haven't stopped smiling.
Obviously as I have only had it for a short while I can not comment on running costs.
I paid 30k for an March 03 GTO-3 with 14k and full service history by Vegantune. It also had the intakes re located and hardpipe kit with integrated BOV.
Just do it, you wont be dissappointed.
