M12 GTO 3R guys, when 'dropping the hammer' to the absolute maximum, lets say a full boot in 2nd or 3rd, what is the max boost pressure you''ll get on a stock setup? i.e. what is your gauge reading... I know its hard to watch it!!! but i'm interested to compare what everyone comes back with

Still havn't met any other members of the nobility on the roads yet! It's been 3 or 4 months!

Just spent the last 15 mins laughing at the Fezza bashing on the other threads... hahaha awesome I live near the edgeware road in london and so get to perform alot of 're-education' of supercar owners myself... in a safe and gentlemenly manner of course!

Isnt being the underdog the most awesome place to be! haha

I am slightly concerned. When I plant it my guage is reading 1.25 bar then dropping back down after about 3 seconds to about 0.5ish - is this okay??

If you have an overboost controller that sounds about right.

Not sure if I've got an overboost controller? - I'll ask Gary to check it out at the weekend.

Should I have a BoV fitted if it's boosting to 1.25?

Not sure - planted it at about 3000rpm, then watched the boost guage. Will check what the rpm is at peak boost next time, at a guess I'd say about 5,500 - will check tomorrow.

1.25 bar seems a bit much at that RPM - probably best to get it checked out

That's all wrong I think. 1.25 is way too much, and 0.5 is too little.

My 3R runs about .7 in the first 4 gears but in 5th and 6th holds 1 bar from just over 3000 all the way through to 6000 rpm. I do think this is too much does any one know of this Mega map option that ive seen on other forums ?

Hi Steve,

I was going to put that up, but I thought I'd wait to see if you did first.

Went to Reworx today.

WARNING WILL ROBINSON!

This is exactly the symptoms I had before my engine was lunched.

It was a combination of a faulty waste gate and a faulty ECU, but the result was a new engine.

Gary (crazy horses) will be able to diagnose this as he sorted my car out after this occurred ... and I'd suggest you drive it off boost til it's check ed out.

Sounds a bit high, but to be honest I've been told by a very reliable source that the gauges aren't that accurate. Also, there's no reason I can see why the boost levels would be lower in lower gears. The ECU doesn't know what gear you're in.

As for a 'mega map', there's no such thing. There aren't any safe shortcuts to more power. New exhaust (from Roush I can recommend) and new inter-cooler and BOV are the best starter items.

Thanks for the warning - I'll get it checked out asap. Light right foot in the meantime!

cars are often loaded differently in the lower gears because the engine doesn not have to work so hard to pull you along

for example in 1st the car is not loaded as hard as it is in 5th

hope this helps

Yup, and there's spool time as well, but 3rd and 4th you'll achieve max boost.

A wild guess, but I would say Magnetti Marreli (Or however it's spelt)

It was an MBE ecu. I think I was on ECU number 3 when it went wrong.

Had another one since....
