Time to veto the Times?

Absolutely true.
My point, badly put I acknowledge, is that journalists, editors (and ultimately Mr Maxwell) exercise "judgement" and decide what to publish.
If I wrote to the Times with a piece of "opinion" that was similar but I swapped the masculine gender for the feminine I'm pretty sure they'd choose not to publish for fear of a) politically correct censure and b) loss of sales. The best way to persuade them to "balance" their output is to help them to understand the consequences of their "judgement" - that's either writing to them (which would boost sales - you'd look to see if you'd been printed wouldn't you?) or not buying the paper.... which would hurt them, even if only a tiny bit.
It's unlikely that they'd choose to apologise for someone else's opinoin or for publishing it.
But it's likely they'd choose to change their behaviour if it was made obvious to them that that would increase/not decrease their adverising audience/revenue.
News international are an intelligent and responsive orgainsation - but they can't exercise that intelligence nor can thay respond if no one gives them something to respond to.
So - if you disagree with the contributor - tell them in the most effective way possible. If you agree do the same.
I think she's wrong so I'm doing just that.
