Remove the filler cap and adjust the nut so that when the cap is closed the rubber ring has some pressure on it.

My GTO3 has really only started to smell after it's third annual service.I've read a post about a fuel line filter but can't remember the outcome.

I had this too - Vegantune traced it to a perished petrol return pipe. Best get it checked.
