Exactly the same here...
The only reason I noticed at all was when the smell of damp hit me a couple of weeks ago.
Then I noticed the passenger window was wound down very slighty so I thought it was simply because I was an idiot.
Now it's raining hard again today and it's wet again....
I'll take a look at the back window tomorrow to see if there are any obvious signs.

If it's any help I found my problem (although these were all rain related and never after washing). As others had mentioned on other threads the water was coming up from the bottom through the joins in the floor pans near both doors. On inspection of the bottom there were small lines that were fairly obvious given good light to indicate where the water was coming in. I just bought some black motor sealant for £3 or so and smeared it down each side along the joins. Haven't had any problems at all with water ingress since then.
Nearly forgot. Where the front chassis enters the seating area of the car (mine was drivers side but check both especially given the fuse box is in the passenger side) I was getting water seeping in between the chassis and the floor pan near the front wheels into the footwell. Another liberal smear of sealant along the line where the chassis sits on the pan has also stopped water coming into my footwell. Check for stones blocking the pan holes in this area too - makes the water just sit in a pool giving it plenty of time to drain into the car.

floor off, clean up, reseal and refix, add some duralac where dis simular metals touch for a permanant fixNearly forgot. Most likely do mine over the summer months. replace ALL the rivets etc. Doesn't matter too much as its mainly used in dry weather But will still do it... 

tty job but satisfying when done. Did the end section last summer. Next is the floor and chassis section under the engine
.A bit off topic, but... Has anyone taken off the floor under the cockpit area of the car? Is the carpet attached directly to the pan or is there something in between? Don't particularly want to rip the carpets out as well.
have taken every panel off the chassis and yes the carpet is stuck to the floor in sections.it all fitted back very wellwith no sign of it being removed

Can't wait....
When I took my front section off there was loads of black sealant along each chassis line but it all just peeled off really easily and had no signs of taking any of the metal or paint off with it. Maybe someone has been there before me.
