I presume you mean whilst driving withing the speed limit of course ?
Whilst driving within the speed limit I've been overtaken by all sorts of cars. Notably a rather 'suped up' Nova which managed to burn me through my village (speed limit 30mph), oooh he must have been doing well over 40 (near to the limit one suspects....)
I used to 'have a bit of fun' with other performance cars on the road. But ever since I watched a TVR, brakes locked, go through a hedge into a field in my rear view mirrors, I just let em go......
I prefer to get there in one piece these days.......

Yes - I mean you usually get the idea by 70 anyway of whether you are quicker
(I'm talking on national speed limit areas here!).
I've just re-read my original post and it sounds a bit like a boasting thread. This was definitely not my intention.
I'm mainly wondering what else is out there really - I'm waiting for the day when the dreaded Ultima appears in my mirrors.

Whilst I'm not a Noble owner, this reminds me of an incident many years ago.
I was in a Chevette. A really really really badly beaten up Chevette. Light blue, looked like crap.
I was a passenger.
Alongside us appeared a Peugeot 1.9 GTi with a Dimma conversion, and a Renault 5 GT Turbo Raider. Quick little cars in their day. They waved.
However, unbeknown to them, this battered old Chevette wasn't quite what it seemed. The ungainly wide wheels, though relatively small in diameter, and the large bore exhaust that was hidden under the rear valance...were there for a reason. I'm sure they thought the car was blowing its back box and that the wheels were a mere attempt at pre-Chav-days-chavving.
Alas, for them, no they weren't.
See, this Chevette 1.3L body shell had the bonnet of a 2.3HSR Chevette. The reason was that sat under it was the said engine from a 2.3HSR...full race car. However, not content with the output of this engine...the owner had deployed one of the first ever instances I recall...of NOS.
At the precise, and you really couldn't have timed it better, moment that the drivers of the aforementioned 'swift vehicles' waved and cogged it down (and pulled probably 4-5 ft ahead of the Chevette)...the owner turned to me and said "Cheeky buggers".
In doing so his hand reached for the NOS switches. Approximately 3 seconds later we had completely obliterated the vehicles that had thought they were so quick....and when I obliterated...I really do mean, OBLITERATED.
I looked in the passenger wing mirror once I'd managed to pull my head off the headrest - and they were now nothing more than a dim and distant vision. 1/4 mile, or was it 1/2 mile behind? I really don't know.
I do know this though. I wasn't big, and it wasn't clever of him....but by god you never ever know what is out there waiting to ruin a day!

I was following a farmer-type small pickup thing (a bit like Cletus's vehicle in Simpson's Hit & Run).
I was in a 3000GT, went to pass him as we came to a dual carriageway and suddenly he was flying away.
I still don't know what it was....

Don't suppose this was in the Northampton/Milton Keynes areas was it? If so...was it green....
The reason I ask is, whilst its not a pick-up in the Mazda/Mitsi style of a pick-up, that I know someone with a VW Caddy pick-up down there. It looks like a pick up. It is a pick up. However, the Audi S4 engine in the back means that it's a very very fast pick-up with very little weight for a 344bhp engine to push along! It snakes about like an adder on fire. Not that I've ever seen an adder of fire. But it must be in a hurry.

I was very impressed earlier this year with a Bently GT. As I came out of hindhead (A3) heading back to portsmouth I opend up the car and this thing never left me (there 30-70 time is amazing). We stayed together all the way to southsea (at normal speeds). Eventualy we ended up next to each other at a set of lights, I looked over and it was an old guy with his wife and they were smiling an laughing.
I thought that was great because:
a. He new what he had and wasn't afraid to use it.
and
b. His wife didn't have a go at him.
He new at the lights I would probably leave him so he waved me on.
Brought a smile to my day.

i get to play this game every time i go for a drive in my fiesta - it doesn't look fast - but has much more power than my Noble !!!!!
however all that power does sometimes cause problems - today i had to remove the superduper unbrakeable engine mounts that had completely sheared in half !! - the engine had tried to escape out the bonnet and has left two rather nasty power bulges in the bonnet

I was passed by the Dragon Motorsport Skyline last year.
He let me go from the lights and by the time he caught me I was going quite quick, lets say a speed of 1.2. He pulled along side, matched my speed and then he was off. Probably reached 1.8 before the next junction. You have to respect those modified Skylines. Their RX-7 is a monster too.

My post was a question, not a statement, but anyway....
I don't even need to look at your profile - you must be a Ferrari driver....you just have to be. I don't think I've ever met a group of people so up their own arses.
Read my second post - I acknowledged my first post was bit crappy. I want to know what else is out there in terms unusual/little known makes and models (e.g. the Ultima, which I'd never even heard of until I came onto this site).

A friend of mine is building an Ultima with a little 7ltr V8 in it. Mild tune to 550bhp, what an awesome road/ track weapon. I’ll be doing a few track days with him next year and I expect to get lapped, he’s a decent driver too. This is the car that can do the ¼ is less than 10 and holds the 0-100-0 world record (all be it with more hp).
Then again, if you think the M12 is a difficult car to live with then you haven’t seen one of these. 105db at tick over, no rear window, no air con (optional), huge wheel spin, impossible to get in and out of without looking like a fool etc..
But why not, you know you want one.

I'm not massively keen on the looks personally, but the rest of the package certainly demands attention.
Has anyone witnessed a Saleen S7? I know they're American, but a 0-60 of 2.8 isn't exactly poor, unlike the cost.

agree with you on the respect for skylines,you never know what sort of power they could be packing,awesome cars.same can be said for some of the Evos and Scoobies out there.....there's a certain Norris Designs Evo lurking around my parts with 900 BHP
...mad car!I've seen the Norris car run at Ten Of The Best. There is always lots of high powered Jap cars there but also monster VWs, Rovers, Fiestas etc. 800bhp is a minimum for a good points total.
If anything excotic races then it always gets creamed by some buzz box 1.6 thing running 3.0 bar of boost.
Agreed, you should never under estimate a car based on its's factory fugures. It always supprises me how much power people car extract from some cars given the right time and money.
