haha, I bet that topic title got you in here quick!
...
Birthday coming up, thought this might be adequate justification for more expenditure on the 3R!
I want the roush so bad, but I will get hung drawn and shimmyed if I get caught buying that right now (stupidly told Mrs what it cost!)
So I think I've settled on a dump valve. I trawled the forum a bit and it seems to be the general concensus that the vegantune with chromed hard pipe kit is the way to go, (who makes this btw?) if you want it quite loud. Followed closely by the Forge... for which you must have yellow spring!
Adrian - you've got the vegantune installation right? Is it awesome?
Is anyone else up for commenting on what buying and installation should cost?
Cheers,
Dan

Seriously, how easy is it to fit one of these?
The thing is, I wanted to incorporate the installation as part of a general check/up tune up. (You may remember my post about weird waste gate venting from last week)... but still, I would love to fit it myself if it's not too easy to f**k up. I'm up for learning as much as possible, but time really is the constraining factor.
Anyone got any info on prices for various places in the mean time?
Dan

Hey Paul, sorry... Can't believe I missed that.
I'm actually at the studio now, rendering out some pre-vis CGI tests for a couple of shots.
This particular shot involves a round, shot long range, by an M82 Barrett sniper rifle that finds it's target's mouth... but not before travelling through the length of the victims lit cigarette first... all in glorified... or should I say goreified super slow motion.
The Nobles are still in, and I'm counting the days till we're ready to go on it. I just hope everyone will still be up for it!
Has anyone had a dump valve (BOV) installed at noble london by Giles and his crew?

BOV - dead easy - any idiot could do it
Rousch exhaust - ditto - any idiot with some muscles and a couple of axle stands could do it; awkward rather than difficult.
Faulks IC - same as BOV - only idiots need worry - but you also need basic wiring skills.
Rousch IC - same as for the exhaust except swap the stands for an angle grinder (needs the IC box chopping) and add the same Faulks IC basic wiring skills.

Hi Dan I got the vegantune BOV and hardpipe kit and its a fantastic piece of kit, not only does it sound awsome but it looks great too. Cant tell you to much about fitting it as I got it fitted by christopher neil when I was getting some other bits done would definatley recommend getting one.

Dan -yeah, Skippy fitted my BOV and IC. Goes without saying that it was a perfect job. As others have said fitting the BOV is easy and recommended if you don't have any warranty infringements to worry about. If you personally fit some 'bolt-on' whilst the car is still under warranty and for some (other) reason the engine goes pop, things could get a bit messy sorting out who's going to pay. If the garage fits it - then should be no problem.

Hey there Rob!
Did you purchase the BOV from Noble London too? Is yours the hardpipe ver.?

Yep - NL supplied and fitted along with IC. I don't have the hardpipe version. There are different schools of thought on this 1) hardpipe prevents 'collapsing', is noisier and looks more bling 2)silicon piping is quieter, insulates the cooled air better, but in reality there probably isn't much difference in actual performance between the two, so just go with whatever takes yer fancy!
My 2p's worth:-
I've seen the hardpipe collapse when blipping the throttle but haven't noticed any performance issues on track so we've haven't fitted one. By it's very nature it's not flexible, heavier and harder and there's a concern that it might whack something during track work as the engine moves around a lot on the standard engine mountings.
BOV should be mandatory though.

Richard, now you've gone and thrown a spanner in the works!
Can you elaborate on the collapse you witnessed?

I think it has something to do with carrying out early testing around Germany in 1989 and and the dump valve being a bit too loud that the Berlin wall.....well you know the rest

Not really much of a spanner.
Try it. With the rear clam open you blip the throttle and the pipe that your about to insert the dump valve into contracts as you blip the throttle. If you don't see any contractions in the pipe then it's not an issue for you to worry about anyway.
The upshot is that IMO the necessity for the hard pipe is myth coupled with bling-tastic pipework and I remain to be convinced about it's usefulness.
Happy to have an explanation that proves I'm wrong though

Well here's another spanner.
What Richard is describing is the soft silicone pipe collapsing on the overun after blipping the throttle with the car stationary and being warmed up. the bit that collapses is the bit between the BOV and the IC. I've heard of them collapsing but never seen one do it before. why would it collapse on the overrun?
could it be that with the BOV a mass effect occurs once the BOV opens and then sucks out the air in the inlet. because the the turbos are spooling down they can't keep up and a vacuum is generated? Of perhaps its occuring because when blipping the throttle the inlet track is not really getting on boost?
out on the track under power with the inlet track under boost it won't happen?
Well that's my contribution.
