Having had the rear clam off recently. I discovered that my reversing lights have stopped working and then the indicators went, one then the other. I was told to check the rear clam wiring loom plug. So I disconnected it and reconnected a few times and it stopped the fault for a bit, but the indicator fault is happening intermittently again. The male and female elements inside the plug are obviously oxidised and I think this may be causing faults through poor connections. Because they are so small, I can’t really get to these with an abrasive treatment. Before I opt for having to have a new loom plug fitted, I thought I'd see if anyone knows how these oxidised terminals can be cleaned easily, perhaps with some sort of chemical treatment?

Happy Christmas!

I cut up an emery board into a thin stick and use it as to file the end of the connector-pin in the hole

You might also want to try an aerosol electronics contact cleaner like:

You may also find you have corrosion/contact issues in the rear light units themselves. I have a 2 year old M400 which had one rear light out and on removing the light cover (4 nuts plus cut the silicon seal) several bulb contacts were corroded. As it is a fair bit of agro to do I replaced all the bulbs (bosch ones I have found last longer than halfords ones!), used switch cleaner on the contacts in the lamp holder and all is now well. Same thing happened on my previous M12. There seems to be no answer to this as obviously the light units live in a harsher environment under the wheel arch in the Noble than the inside of the boot in a Mondeo

Cheers

Agree, a design fault - Next time you open up the buld cluster pop a couple of Silca Gel packs inside!
