It's the need to get the doors fully open to get in and out. Not easy when someone parks next to you in a normal space - especially if you are a lanky 6 footer like me. That's why 2 spaces - better than using a disabled space. If there's no end of lines spaces left it's the only option (if the spaces are really tight), unless you're a professional limbo dancer or contortionist.

I have found that if you park sideways on, you can take up to 3 spaces

Why take 3 when you can take 6. Just park straight across 2 rows of parking spaces .

It does annoy people though, especially when there are not enough spaces late afternoon when everyone is trying to find one and sees a sportscar taking up 2.

Not unheard of for people to damage cars in this situation.

Indeed - that's why I tend to opt for the limbo option. In case some disgruntled soul decides to run a key down the side of the car.

I prefer the "There's no way I'm parking there!" option, and take the shopping car.

I often take one of my 3 little ones out in the Noble and park in a Parent with Child space - I love the way that the angry look dissolves into a "that lucky kid" look.

Not in David Lloyds Cardiff they won't. Spent over a year wasting heartbeats in there. So many people with there head up there proverbials
