Simple question, is it normal for the noble to crack around the holes that attatch the rear spoiler? loking to buy and seen two cars now, and they have both had the holes nearest the rear kind of split. an expensive job o sort well i think, as the repair and painting of the clam cannot be cheap. Any other things i should be looking for? Both have seemed well put together TBH, with few creaks and niggles.

Not too common IMHO. The bolts may have been overtightened in the past.

Mine has this under the rear offside wing support where a bolt is stuck half in. I thought it might be caused by the wing and supports bouncing against the clam when going over speed bumps etc. Shouldn't cost too much to rectify - I had a quote for £300 (which was cheap) to fix this and a scratch on the front, but I am waiting till the Spring to do the paint. I wouldn't let that put you off if it's a sound car - just factor in the repair cost.

Get the car checked over by someone who knows Nobles. PM me if you need a contact.

I have noticed a few little bubblus around the screws. Normal I guess. Not too much one could do about it really.

Thanks for the replies. It is on both the rear bolts so thought it may have been the downforce exerting pressure on them as i was unsure what support there actually is underneath. Does sound more likely that overtightening has occured though. £300, wow that was cheap. I phoned someone i trust about this and was quoted £600 as a guesstimate. It has got a few other battle scars, scuffs and marks. Alloys particulary scruffy etc, and needs to be mopped to get out all the terrible swirl marks. I factored about 1k on top of the asking price. I do not know anything about these cars but it was for sale on PH with full vegantune rebilid. Looking at this forum they seem to have alot of praise, although my own experience of so called specialists with other cars leaves alot to be desired.

Ohh, and my apologies to have called it a spoiler rather than a wing. i presume the spoiler is part of the clam really. if you could pm me the no of someone who knows a thing or two about the cars i would really appreciate it. The car i am still looking at as a serious contender is just of J2 of the M40. a 75 mile drive for me (and maybe another 3 points after going there yesterday, fingers well and truely crossed. Damn overpasses)

the cracks i mean are actually cracks in the clam thery are where the two rearmost bolts would be attatching the wing to the clam, and protrude about 10+mm from the rubber mount. there are about 6 cracks per bolt. i took pics but they do not show it well..

Yes, mine has these - hairline type that you would only really notice if loking closely?

quite noticable to someone who is a real perfectionist (spelling) but yes, you need to look...

LOL! When I first got it I was a bit disappointed with them being there, but it doesn't bother me too much now.
Know what you mean about imperfections though.
