Last 2 times I have been out for a spin, I've spent 40 minutes stuck behind the silver hair brigade in their nissan micra's! Not happy! Then when a straight appears, you can pass them, but then you're on a straight! By the time some twisties arrive again........you guessed it........another flat cap!!
I'm getting my superbike itch again!

Oh, don't. I've been getting that itch again too. When I was on my way back from karting the other day(being chased by some nutter in a crysler), I started thinking about getting another bike......
And what with global warming you can drive it all year long ! Hooorah !

How about a former motogp 500cc twins that are kicking around in a few places -- got to be the ultimate 2 stroke buzz (literally) ..
I'm making do with a Japenese 1000/4 :-)

i would love to have an ex gp bike - but i doubt i could afford one - have you got any links to any ?
i've been told an RD500 engine will fit in my frame ! but i don't think it would be worth all the grief and effort

Apparently so -- any good with a saw and welder :-) You see the occasional NSR500 V-Twin pop up (160bhp, 125kg) - not too many though. The last one I saw was on Ebay US and when for a little over $80K -- too rich for my trackday habit !
mmm 80k
think i'd better save up for one of those !!
i had a RD50 when i was 16
it has a 65CC big bore kit, full fairing and jacked up suspension, solo seat and a micron exhaust system - it had the tiniest silencer and sounded like a low flying aircraft !!!!!
my mother was not too impressed with all the noise and she made me start it at the end of our street not to offend the neibours !!

i had one of those when i was 17 an RD125
i bought it with a blown up engine and rebuilt it using a load of parts supplied by a well known 2 stroke tuning company
it bloody went like a rocket !! - a lot of my friends had 250's and i used to tear past them on aceleration and top speed - it used to do power wheelies and was far to much fun for a learner !!!
