Fuel smell

Evening all,

I know this has been covered before, but has anyone got a fix for this problem? I've gone through the archives and done the usual filler cap tightning etc but the smell still remains. I've had the pans and covers off around the tank and there are no leaks apparent on any of the pipes or the tank itself.
I would put up with it but my garage is built into my house and it fills the downstairs hallway with petrol fumes over a couple of days. I've spoken to the ever helpful Bill at the factory but still no joy.
Is there a breather pipe apart from the rollover valve pipe (that doesn't smell)? The fumes are the strongest around the tank and are definately not from the cap.
I'm sure it's also not too good for me sniffing in all the fumes either.....

I love the smell percolating into my garage - when I smell it I know I'm home.

I don't mind it smelling in the garage, maybe Noble sell an uprated draught excluder for the connecting door.....

Mine is exactly the same, my porch stinks of petrol as my garage is integral to my house. I tightened teh cap screw as well and turned it the wrong way and the filler cap got stuck so I had to undo th jubliee clip to get it out.

My cloakroom used to reek of petrol (garage is next to house) and I always wondered what would happen to a tradesman if he lit up a Woodbine in there! Anyway, I siliconed the gap between the drain pipe (goes directly into the garage - don't ask!) and the smell is almost imperceptible now.

You sure its not the lawn mower or jerry can? Sounds like you've covered all the bases!

This subject comes up every new batch of owners. It's been sugested in the past that a fuel line filter somewhere in the system is at fault. I believe it gets blocked and needs attention during servicing, either cleaning or replacing. This sometimes is overlooked.

I would hope not on any serviced car. I went through an engine 3 years ago with a blocked line filter (it leans the mixture off as enough petrol can't get through, and the ECU can't tell) which melted three lovely big holes into the top end.

Noble sent service bulletins out after my car digested the engine that all filters are inspected and cleaned at every service.

I don't really know what to suggest. Unless you can 'sniff' where it is coming out from it sounds like you have checked the obvious things.
