My rears (Corsas) are scrubbed to the wear bars after only 2K miles! I like to "drive" my car but feel this is a little premature as the rest of the tyre has plenty of tread left.
I had been over inflated (the tyres not me) to some degree.. Ala (M400) Noble hand book but understand 26 rear 18 front to be favoured.
over inflation would surely encourage centre tread wear so i feel this is not the problem,
Comments invited.
Flame suit donned!!

Does anyone have any recommendations where to get my wheels and suspesion geometry checked / set up?

Scrubbing the outside is a common M400 trait. Is it just the outside inch or so? If you post up a piccy we can compare it to what we deem 'normal' and offer some more advice.

Have to host them somewhere and then look at the formatting code which will tell you how to enbed a pic.
Basically it's [pic] www.website/picture.jpg [/pic]
If you havn't got somewhere out there to put your pics try photobucket.com. They're free.

Those look like they are wearing individually well - nothing wrong there. Perhaps you've just been a bit heavy right foot....

Need to remember that when new the outside edge of the Corsa's have a lot less than the stated 5mm of tread. They are designed to have a lot less block movement around the outside edge (think of the Michelin Pilot Sports ala CSL etc) and therefore it looks like they wear a lot quicker. I believe the legal limit is across 75% of the tyre - hence the outside edge doesn't need to that critical. I'd reckon you've still got a good 50% left from the images.

I did go round this debate with Lee when I had my M400 - he took me aside and pointed out that the tread depth of the new tyres wasn't even, so what did I expect after running the car... which was a fair point and I did feel like a bit of an idiot for complaining about it...

That said 2k is a bit extreme - need to feed your right foot a little less pies!

Scott.

Hmm - it looks like those are down to the wear indicators which means they need replacing. Those little square blocks that sit in the middle of a few of the tread patterns are set at 2mm high - if they are level with the tread then time to replace.

The legal limit is a minimum of 1.6mm in a continuous band throughout the central three-quarters of the tread width, throughout the whole of the circumference. The tread need not be visible outside of these areas.

However, as you may have read on my other thread, Corsa's aquaplane rather well in large amounts of standing water. Running Corsas at anything like 2mm in the winter isn't a sensible idea IMHO.

I'm not mechanically minded at all but even to me they look like they need replacing.
Like J says, the blocks are level with the rest of the tyre.

I'd cry if I got through a set in 2K! I must drive like a girl.....

Maybe I should go on a diet then the tyres wouldn't have so much work to do!!

I've booked it in to Plans on Friday for a full geo sort and rear tyre change Gulp!
