Rain has stopped play..

Hello all..

The problem is, I can't get into my car
Looks like the rain has got into my electrics some how and shorted out my central locking.
ofc once in my car, my first port of call is gonna be the fuses. from there I'm not sure where to go.. anyone have any suggestions? It looks like my alarm has packed up too, It went off briefly and then I saw smoke (I did begin to panic) but on closer inspection I smelt that familar TCP smell you get when electrics short together, and then pfft! no alarm and no c/l. I'm going to get it into the garage and start drying it out with a fan heater. Where shall I aim the heater? Any particular areas which are prone to water ingress and may effect the electrics?
Any advice would be appreciated.. Thanks all..

Alarms have been known to pack up - they aren't that well insualted from the elements and if the cable protectors get soaked they can let water in.

A few early cars had this but I haven't heard about any going for years. Good news is that if it is the alarm/central locking then it'll be easy to replace as it's an off-the-shelf OEM part.

Going by your smell diagnosis it sounds like the alarm, although could you do a further edit that removes where the smell comes from as it rather gives away the location of the alarm unit....
