Motorsport or M400 pump?

Just after a quick bit of advice fellas.

I want to change my fuel pump along with the wiring and will be doing it my self as It looks fairly easy to do. All I need to know is which one should I get?

I have a GTO-3 and plan to fit an uprated exhaust in the future (Probably the one from Broad). So will an M400 be ok for this or should I get the Motorsport Pump?

I have the 0044 motorsport pump fitted to my M400 and I can't tell the difference in noise level from the standard pump.
I haven't heard the 3R pump though and that may of course be a lot quieter.

get one through gary at crazy horses,his wiring loom is twice as thick as the others.nits a piece of piss to fit. ext time,dont be a pussy in get your beast on the rollers ha ha

I'll be up for it next time Tony. Hope to have the exhaust for the next one, and then I might be able to give you a run for your money, LOL. Your car did well mate. Let me know how your charge cooler plans go.

Has anyone thought to fill the void around the pump with Rockwool or similar?

I'm thinking of trying some dynamat today on the wall between the cabin and pump bay.

Will wrapping the pump not increase the temps of the pump and its fuel too much?

I think the pump is cooled by the fuel running though it anyway. But I also seem to remember someone wrapping one in the past, but it didn't make much difference. Also, quite a bit of the noise comes out the side vent so I'm not sure what dynamat will do either. Quieter pump needed then!

This no doubt is total bollox - but here goes anyway. Normal road pumps have some sort of bleed/vent system that prevents noisy caviation of fuel+vapours in the actual pump. Motorsport pumps don't have this. However, if you keep the pump as cool as possible (I have a small vent in the wheel arch liner) and tilt the pump so that any trapped vapours can dissipate more easily. Voila. Problem solved. As I said -probably total bollox but it seems to work for me.

And Adrian's is flat on the floor, but has his non-return value up high, and his never buzzes. And another spanner to put in the works is my old 3R pump used to buzz every so often.
