Slightly off the subject, but does anyone know of a company that could refurb the lining and padding of a Bell Full Face Helmet in the UK.
I have had the helmet for quite a few years now (8 - 10). The original white paint and shell is unmarked and imaculate. The padding is going very soft and making the helmet loose (or my head is getting smaller).
I know it's not the best practice to refurb a helmet. I have ordered another one from the states, and will use this old one for Karting etc.
Cheers,
Ian

Ian,
Those that know stuff say you should get a new one every 3-4 years!
I think thats a bit excessive, but 8-10 years use should mean you got yr moneys worth. I'd get a new one.
I dropped my shoei the other day and its taken a penny sized chunk out of it. Should really chuck it and get a new one too, but I'm loathed to really.

Hi Guys,
I have just ordered a new Bell Vortex from the states as the £ is so strong against the $, and agree it's not the best idea to refurb an old lid.
I will probably bin it.
Cheers,
Ian.

Hope it fits! Could never buy a helmet mail order as they all fit so differently.
I second Martin's point on your helmet Greg
It looks like a scooter helmet! http://xtremesportsphotography.net/gaMr Noble said:
I know! Gutted! I'm sure its fine for karting though, but wouldn't go out in a single seater or sports bike in it anymore.
It is still going to be better than the hire lid at tracks.

It looks like a scooter helmet! http://xtremesportsphotography.net/gaI agree the fit can be different. But I ordered a Bell mag 5 open face 2 years ago from the States. I ordered the same size (7 5/8) as my old Bell full face, and the size and fit was perfect. So this time I have ordered a Bell Vortex full face size 7 5/8 . It's bit of a gamble, but I feel that ordering the same brand and size of lid should be OK. I'll post a reply when the helmet arrives.
As far as the old one.....I think I wil bin it.
Cheers,
Ian.

It looks like a scooter helmet! That one is my scooter helmet!!
Its my easy on easy off open facer with built in visor I use for shooting round town when socialising and property developing etc etc. You'd understand if you wore glasses. Full facers and glasses don't mix well!! This is the one I dropped, a 2 year old Shoei Rossi replica.
Gutted it chipped. Still think its fine though.
