Exige more refined than a Noble 3R shock!

A bloke on the exige / Elise forum reckons he test drove a 3R and then an Exige S and quote:
'All i can say is wow - the exige s is so much better imo than the noble - 45 mins on the road in a test drive has got me hooked The car just feels so much more refined than the 3R and has so much more grip on offer compared to the V6 i'm used to'.

I test drove an Exige the other week and although it was fun and quite quick, the ride was far more harsh, the steering at low speed, with wide fronts and no PS was heavy to say the least, over rough B roads, I'd feel more confident on a Noble anyday.
When I got back in the Noble, and put my foot down, I remembered why I could never go back.
Something to do with 400 torques!!
Couldn't stop grinning for about 20 mins as I drove home.
The noble is an awesome toy to have. We're all a lucky bunch.

the op says its his opinion, he's entitled to it as you are yours.
not really appropriate for you to berate him in this manner I think. he also posted on the Lotus BBS and not here so clearly wasn't out to irritate Noble owners
Having owned a Noble from new for 18 months and then an Exige from new for 18 months and tracked each of them around 14 times, I can report that the Exige is certainly not more refined and has no more grip if tyre choice is similar BUT:
Noble faults - 26 including 4 flatbed truck recoveries.
Exige faults - Nil
The Exige cannot compete as a road car but the difference in price was used to fund a s/h 350Z for longer road journeys(also nil faults).

I went past an Exige a couple of weeks ago and although I liked it (bright orange 
) the occupant looked like he had been shoe-horned into it - it wasn't as quick as I was expecting either, although it did have an 07 plate and may have been new and being run in (or the owner just didn't fancy going for it). If someone walked up to me and gave me one I think I'd manage to find some space to keep it.

My comment to the guy was that if the car was for regular track use then go with the Exige, I do think they handle track abuse better than the Noble, especially in S2 guise but refined they ain't! I am far from anti exige, they are a terrific track car in fact I spend most weekends racing one!
The handling of the Noble in standard form is 'in my opinion'
better than the exige, has less understeer and more predictability at the limit. As a road car the ride is far superior.

No worries bud Maybe refined wasnt the best word i was looking for at the time when i last posted Its only my opinion after all but having driven both 3R & Exige back to back within the space of an hour i found i prefered the exige much more over the Noble - i'm not knocking the Noble - its a lovely looking car is still fun to drive but i just preferred the overall package thats available from the Exige S 220 tbh because its more focused for how i want to use the car - and dont worry i'm not going for luxury in the Exige i'll be ordering(which would probably make it refined hehe) - no frills will be going in, so no aircon, no electric windows, etc, probably not going to go for touring pack but put the money towards performance with the Stage 1 sports pack and then pay a visit to somone like Plans to get the car setup for some track work
As you can see i did drive the Noble 3R so you're suggestion here that i didnt isnt true but hey ho - after driving both i found i preferred the Exige and for what i'll be wanting to use the car for felt it was a better personal choice for myself - As i said above i do like the Noble but clearly its not the car for me - apart from driving a Noble i also looked at a couple of Porsches including a GT3 but overall the Exige is where my heart and head is pointing me
