Insurance

Chaps, just wondering what insurance company most of you are with and if you can indicate a rough idea of costs. Reason I'm asking is that my current insurance co (AON) have so far taken 2 days to work on this quote and I still have nothing back.

I'm 32 with full NCB, no accidents or claims and live in a nice postcode in Aberdeen etc, only slight snag is that I currently have 11, yes 11 points! for 2 speeding convictions... (99mph got me 5 points and 55mph in a 30 got me 6 points even though it was a blooming dual carriageway nowhere near a built up area) Fortunately I'm back down to 5 points from Aug and have been driving ever so carefully since!
My insurance co tells me that its not my points that's taking the time its that the car is 'specialist' as I've had very reasonable quotes for Porker 911's.

Any insurers you can recommend that are more used to this car ?

I'm with Classicline. I'm on a limited mileage ( 5,000 ) policy. Had my last 2 Esprits with them aswell.

And the good thing is when you ring them up you just tell them your name and they pull up your details. And they are in the UK, which is a big help... don't get me started on Indian call centres..

I was with A-plan for a year paid 1100 for my 2.5 age 24 4 YNCB. Now with Virgin same price just with 10 months Intrest free credit. Depends how you want to pay for it!!

AON just quoted me £1200 and considering I've 11 points I take that as not bad. £500 excess, no track cover and car must be garaged (hmm need a lock-up sharpish!)

Payment wise I normally just pay it up front so not fussed about finance etc.

I'll shop around a bit and see who gives me the best quote, will post the results fro your interest when I have them. Just quickly, can anyone tell me if the Noble alarm system is Thatcham Cat 1 approved ?

tesco are good as they will only want to know about the amount of convictions if you have less than 2 in the last 5 years youll get a good quote.

Im with Footman and James and im only £445 a year.Restricted to 5000 miles though.No tracker needed either just a cat 1 is suffice.(it must be due to the postcode).I also have full no claims.

Think you chaps have hit the nail....both my convictions are SP30's and they dont ask about points or fines, just the conviction type which really helps! ;-)
