Had an EVO 6. Great car, big boot, 4 doors, usable everyday. Handling not as sharp as the Noble but because of more turbo lag, feel just as fast.
Downside is they've lost their "Look I'm driving a rally car" image, and now have a "Look @ me sik trainers 'n hat, boyyyyeee, 'cos I's a chav 'init" one. Shame as they're great cars.

I had a 400 bhp, 400 lb ft Evo VIII MR. Although it was not as fast in acceleration as the M400 or quite as sharp in handling, I'm pretty sure that in the vast majority of british weather/road situations it would have easily outpaced the Noble (especially in the damp/wet). On a track it would have been the opposite.
Other positives over the Noble including the vastly superior reliability...Evos simply will not break down unless you're very unlucky. Re: plastic feeling...true the interior is very bland.
Obviously I'm biased...but I would never pick a subaru over a well-sorted evo. Scoobies in my experience understeer far too much and even in prodrive form just don't cut it in terms of performance and sharpness of steering.

if you like modifying your cars and want 4 doors - the evo is hard to beat
they can easily be tuned to 400 ish bhp with a remap and if you want more then the world is your oyster - from 2.4 stroker kits to gt42 turbos you can literally get almost 1000 bhp from one on the correct fuel
biggest one we Dyno'd made 707 bhp at the wheels !!
however as phil has said - the chav image is starting to stick and you may have to wear a baseball cap before you turn the key !!

I have an Evo VI TME atm as well as a 3R and IMHO apart from straight line speed the evo is just as capable as the 3R but you know the evo wont bite you in a bend like the noble can.
In anything but dry weather there is no comparison tbh.
Oh and my friend has a P1 and he keeps askin me to sell my evo to him lol scoobys do understeer a bit to much.
BTW this is just in my opinion abd is not intended to insult or upset anyone !

Depends which ones, and how they're setup - DCCD-equipped STIs have much less understeer than the others (64r/36f static torque split), certainly wasn't an issue in the '96 Type-RA I almost bought. I get the impression most UK Subarus are set up very understeery, the rarer STi models (mostly JDM cars) like the s202 etc have a much much better reputation for turn-in. There are also cheap mods for the lesser models too which improve turn-in (like the whiteline bumpsteer kits etc). Out of the box Evo's are sharper steering in general though, to a large degree because of the computerised AWD compared to mechanical system in the Subarus.
Personally I think the biggest distinguishing factor between them is the sound, and the Subie wins that no contest - tasty boxer vs um, sewing machine perhaps.

I have to say when I found out he,d bought one I did nip off and test drive one !!!
The steering is well unsure!!!
Not even in the same ball park as my Noble!!
The interior is poop as well!!!
Its funny cause when I was on the test run another one pulled up along side us full of kids.... I,ve never seen anyone more embarassed then the sales chap!!!!

I had an EVO6 and tracked it for two years. The car must have done over 50 track days without complaint. They are absolutely bullet proof and handle exceptionally for a saloon car. You can get a reliable 370BHP out of them no problem for little outlay.
Of course they aren't as quick in standard form as an M400, or as nimble but they are not to be underestimated!

ers. Ooh, didn't know you'd got one a new GT. Congrats! You'll have to mod it now to make sure it is faster than you Noble!
You and Jason can now drive around like pinky & perky!
