Hestiation at low revs

The old Nob seems to be misbehaving a bit.. At low revs it's very hesitant ( maybe mis-firing ? ) but when you put a few revs in away it goes no problem at all. Also, it's idle seems a bit lumpy as well.

Two things come to mind : If was washed on Saturday and then it lashed it down on Sunday. Water somewhere ? Having said that, it's been in my garage since Monday. On monday it had similar troubles ( but only a couple times ). Also, I filled it up on Saunday as well, with V-Power ( as normal ). A bad batch of petrol was my other thought. Any ideas ?

Could be a loose vac tube.

I seem to have got rid of most of it. It was hesitating at around 2.25k to 2.75k. There's an elbow connector under plenam which, I'm told, if it's on too far can cut the air and cause problems. I've pulled it back and it seems much better now. Also, I'm wondeirng about water around the plugs. Looking around one of the coils there looks to be a water mark. I might see about taking all the coils off, removing the plugs and letting it all dry out and see what happens.

I had the same a few weeks back and it turns out the coil was knackered (probably due to water ingress). The hesitation sounds the same (same revs) but only when I was flooring it, 3/4 gas it was fine. Reasonably cheap fix if it is the coil.

I'm wondering about a coil as well ( missing with water ). I suppose the thing to do is get a new coil and swap out each one and see what happens. I assume it's just a standard Ford part, maybe £50 or so ?

I think the one that replaced mine was about £40.

I've just been to my local Ford dealer - gave them the part number on the top and they said it was of a Maverick. Whi am I to argue ? Anyway, I'll have it on Tuesday, £25.

I doubt it is your one of your coils, sounds like lambda sensor. Does it idle ok when starting cold ? If it is ok cold but after it begins to warm up then becomes lumpy at low revs then probably is a lambda. Easy way to tell is by plugging into a laptop with the software.
