Hmmm, what new car?

Need to get a new car for work. (selling X5 cause its too flash for my sales job!)


Audi A6 Avant. 2.5 tdi auto. 50k miles FSH £15-18k

Audi Allroad. 2.5tdi Auto 50k miles £17-20k.


Golf Gti Edition 30 5dr DSG New dealer with 6% haggled discount if poss. £24500


Golf R32 5dr DSG with dvd nav and super high spec on import with about 14% off. £25k



I'm really urging towards the R32 as it would make my driving job a real blast!


What do you nice chaps think?

Could even get the optional Recaro seats in the R32. The cost of options in the EU is soooo much cheaper then here! Navigation here £1895, there £1200

Leather seats here £1700 there £995!!

I drove my wifes MK4 R32 into work today and they make you drive like a hooligan, 15mpg on the way in today though The MK5 is supposed to be even better...

consider the GTTDI - 150 hp std and can be chipped to 200 bhp and 340 lb/ft

they are very fast ! and will give you a better mpg too !

Torque at the flywheel offset by the long gearing you need if you only have 4.5krpm to rev to, and they sound like a tractor.

Must say that having driven a 335d BMW engine. I can't totally agree, but revs do make you smile more that torques.

I like the R32 idea. Have you thought about SAAB? I had one once and it was a cracking car - great value, well built and surprising quick. If you're looking for an estate, this is worth a look. It will probably tick most of your boxes - I also think they look pretty good too

I think a golf gives off a good image even if it is the top spec one. Much less "poncy" "flashy" "green hate inducing" than an X5 4x4 IMO.



GTi Edition 30 gets 35mpg and R32 only gets about 26.

Didn't think about that! Its only 0.3 slower to 60mph too.

Going up to PF Saturday lunchtime. Won't be too much as I'm suppossed to be on track on Sunday morning at 08.30 !

THE Germans have gone power-mad with amazing versions of the VW Golf and Audi TT.
This is the VW Golf GTi W12-650 which has borrowed the 6-litre W12 engine from the Phaeton limo — and they had to rip out the Golf’s back seats to fit it in.
VW reckons it will deliver 0-62mph in 3.7sec all the way up to 202mph, which is pretty much on a par with a Porsche 911 Turbo.
The Golf is a one-off built for the Woerthersee VW/Audi modified car show in Austria this week.

Probably more up your street.
