Advice needed on making a claim

Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right forum but i'll give it a go!!!
I am looking for advice on making a claim, I took my Noble M12 into a garage(un-named but not a main dealer/Service agent) Due to a minor leak on the end of the steering rack, Cost to fit supplied rack £56+VAT. I had a phone call from the garage a few hours later to inform me the hub was extremley worn and when the car was re-assembled the Trackrod end Ripped out of the Hub Carrier, Hence requiring a new hub!!!! At the very attractive cost of £1042+VAT+Fiiting!!!
Due to the fact I had just sold the car and needed it ready to deliver 2 days later I un-happilly agreed to pay the price but informed the garage i would look into it further!!
On investigation it is clear the hub had been smashed with a hammer in an attempt to free the track rod end, Rather than use the correct tools!! The garage is obviously denying this.
I must also mention that my car was serviced just 500 miles earlier and i feel that if this part was worn to the extent described my service engineer would have noticed!!
Does anyone know where i stand with this claim and the relevent bodies to discuss it with??
Any info would be greatly apprieciated.

Do you mean Hub or Upright, the Ford hubs are about £600 for a set of four, the upright is a bespoke Noble part. With regard to the damage done by the repairer you would need to be able to prove they did it....if the poeple who serviced it are willing to swear to this then you may have a case.Adrian W said:

I have been there on 2 occasions, and both times, decided that the sleepless nights and stress of it all was not worth the grand or so at stake.
I'm a great believer in Karma and avidly watch "My name is Earl", he would just let it be and let Karma make the dodgy lying tech get run down by a bus on his way to work tomorrow................
Failing that I could give you the numbers of my mates "Dangerous Dave" and "Barry Barn-door" who will gladly pop in wearing their fairy outfits to retrieve your money for you

Supply of Goods & Services Act 1982 is your friend. First step is to talk to your local friendly trading standards.
