Walked out of work today (on ind est) and herd this V8 raw. I jusy caught a glimps of the car and saw the side panell that differs in colour and instantly thought it was a R8. It then turned round booted it for a bit stopped and the drivers changed seats and it rawed off again.

I went to the Audi garage that was a mile away to have a look, they had a manual in the show room that is not to be driven and they had just taken delivery of an auto (the one I saw), all the workers were taking it in turn to give it a good thrashing. I was in the Noble and they liked it alot, eventualy I left to go and catch up the R8 that had left for another run and the sales man said "don't over take it and show it up" how nice (not that i could at the mo with only 260bhp).

I thought about asking for a spin but didn't fell worthy.

Anyone driven on yet?

Obes sat in one if that counts wink

The more I see it in the flesh the more I'm not at one with the front 1/4r styling. Strange as I usually love Audi's understated styling, perhaps this is just too "sportscar" like????

Just waiting on ecurie's to turn up and then I'll have it out.

Hey Martin smile
Sat in one at the local dealer and thought it was a lovely place to sit!
Haven't driven one yet, but saw 4 or 5 of them doing the VIP laps at Le Mans and they looked and sounded really good.
Not sure how the price will hold up but if they start doing them in 911 type numbers (7k p.a. ish IIRC) a few people will lose a fortune on them in the first year or so. It'll make them a good used proposition in 18 months time tho smile

It's defo on my wish list in a few years time. Although strapping a Supercharger to it would make it even better!!!

Yeah I sat in the manual and it was a nice place to be, the one I was in had all the bits and was £92K I think he said. I think the std price is £72K?. £92K is mad as you say a lot will be lost on resale.

Couldn't belive how soft the clutch was.

Had a good look at FOS. As you say interior was fantastic and the photos I'd seen simply didn't do the R8 justice, inside or out.

FYI, I heard there's a 3+ month delay with RHD models due to an "issue". RHD Launch date was origiannly June.

On looks alone, I tend to agree AJG. Saw three in different colours - just looked like a TT that had over eaten!

Yeah the front lights look awsome. the S8 has them also, one was behind me the other week and it looked like in my rear view mirror that it was trying to eat the back of my car, looked evil.

I get to drive it at Oulton Park this Thursday - delivery Q1 2008. It isn't a Noble - too pretty! I doubt it will have the same kick in the back either.

They can only make 20 a day so it isn't going to flooding the market any time soon.

I'll get out just in time for the M17

Popped into my local Audi dealer last week for a look..very handsome car in the flesh lick...hugely modern yet not at all vulgar or in your face smokin...5k deposit will get you on the list for one with delivery at 12-15 months time, with the option to change from R8 to R10 ( if thats what Audi decide to call the V10 version) along the way.Huge options list can massively increase the price with things like magnetic dampening a must..but others like carbon fibre detailing in the engine bay etc serving no purpose other than to look nice at great expense.Very impressive thumbup

There must have been twenty of 'em lined up at Oulton on Saturday, every colour and interior combination they offer. Must say they do look the part in the flesh and the interior is very smart.

£90K is an awful lot of money though for what is the entry level version ultimately!

It does when the S8 (large car - lots of technology in it) with the 5.2 V10 is £20k less.

And the RS4 is even better value. ..would be nice in Blue with black leather and silver wheels/mirrors. Now where have I seen one like that?....
