Hi Guys,

My GTO-3 brakes are alright but need a good push and lack bite. I've just changed my track car from EBC to Mintex and the difference is marked, so is there a recommended pad upgrade as I want to do a trackday warmup session before my favorite club sprint later in the year.

Cheers

Mintex DS2500 are the trackday/road choice for many.

The Mintex 1144 would give a good choice for a fast road and tday pad.

There are pagids which are more aggressive but have downsides like permanent squeel.

Read the Noble FAQ wiki thread as there are details there.

I use Pagid pads front and rear, I have AP grooved discs on the front. They have excellent feel and work from the off with no apparent lack of performance when cold or wet.yes
They do squeal Like a Bcensoredd at low speed so if you're easily embarrased in traffic don't use them. hehe

I really didn't like DS2500s when I had a Noble. They imprinted all over the disks and caused vibrations.

I've not had any issues with my DS2500s, only on my second set of disks after 18000 miles and no vibrations at all.

They really don't work too well when stone cold though!

I have Ap's on my Evo with DS 2500's and can't praise them enough even when repeatedly breaking, sometimes from 160 ish I had no fade or vibration and have done approx 25000 miles on the original set. Will deffinately put grooved rotors and these pads in the Noble!

I've been having terrible trouble with judder under braking recently. No idea what it is and Kerridges seem stumped too.

The car has spent 9 weeks there out of the last 11 frownfrown I miss her being in my garage!!

I wonder if it is the DS2500's causing the judder as it only happens when you cook them and after...confused

Thanks Guys,

I put 1144's in the Lancer, I might go for these as I don't want the squealing. I can get them trade too so I let you know what the're like.

Hi Greg
Saw your car last Saturday at kerridges took mine in for a service parked it next to yours
it looks like its been there for sometime it needs a wash i like your steering wheel its cool.
I also get brake judder when slowing down from anything say over 70 then after that it goes,
Kerridges say that it could be lack of use but having read this it makes me wonder if it is the pads. They are the standard ones that came with the car.

Well if skimming the disks fixes it, you'll have your answer... I've heard others having similar issues to mine with those pads too.

Wasn't someone here using Pagid RS19s or RS29s? I use the 29s on my RS and they are fabulous. Would recommend the RS19 over them on a noble though as its a lighter car and the 29s have a lot of initial bite that would be harder to modulate on something less heavy. These are lemans endurance pads and race proven. Good stuff, but a little wooden when cold for the first couple of applications.

I seem to remember a comment/thread about brake judder being down to brake dust/crud accumulation on the disc surface.
Before I changed my front discs I used to clean out all of the drill holes.
This cured the problem until they filled up again, incidently I get the same from my grooved discs (not as often) but if I brake really hard from speed the judder goes away for a while (I guess until the grooves accumulate some crud)and then I just repeat the excercise.

Dan - I use RS29s, and they are brilliant, only downside is that they can be noisy when coming to a standstill. Don't have any problem with them in terms of 'feel' and they are surprising good when cold. For anyone thinking of fitting them - remember their racing heritage - you seldom see Le Mans cars tip-toeing around for the first 200miles; so the way to bed them in is 6x 100-30 stops. Job done. In fact if you do try and bed them in gently they will just glaze over, squeal and vibrate. You will then need to take coarse emory to both pads and disks which is very tedious.

Another vote for RS29, albeit on another car.
