Hi All,
I am currently in process of looking for a low'ish mileage GTO-3R, having sold my Nissan 350Z GT4 and have been getting excited over the prospect of joining the Noble fold.
However, I looked at one the other day at a dealer local to me and he told me that a new set of front discs from AP are 1200.00GBP per set?! Surely, this is a mistake?
Don't get me wrong I know it's a bit of a 'unique' car (I have a 'unique' bike as well; CCM, British built in Blackpool, so I know I can live with the low volume, production vehicles!)
But 1200.00 for a set of discs??? Please tell me this is not the case and that there is a identical disc used for a Ford Ka or something, that costs 24.99 from Halfords!?
If not, surely, they are probably some of the most expensive discs available today and does hint of a bit of a 'deal' between AP and Noble????

dont know if it helps but i have been used DBA discs on my skyline and evo's over the last few years, they are really good discs and a decent price not silly prices compared to AP.
i also use ferodo ds2500 pads which i find last and work extremely well.
not sure of a supplier for DBA for the noble, but i have allways used RB Motorsport to source my parts for me and they are really helpful.
might be worth ringing RB and asking for steve who does the parts there, i am sure he would try to help.
if i remember correctly a full set of discs pads and hoses for a skyline GTR or evo was about 600 quid

This is a £55k sports car. This is a car that also has 300+ bhp.
And you are worried about spending £120 on something that is between you and life and death?
I hate to say but a Noble really really isn't for you, nor is any sports car in this price bracket to be honest.

DBA are very good quality, but i doubt a NOble fitment would be found. I am about to go up to DS2500 pads myself. got the rears, just waiting on the front discs (or possible skim) before i fit the fronts.i also use ferodo ds2500 pads which i find last and work extremely well.

Yes it is wrong, as already stated 1200 quid will get you the fronts/rears/ds 2500 pads (fitted) not just a set of front discs. I am sure there was some humor lost in the last sentence on some people

Buy the standard Noble discs.
You have to understand what you get for £1200.00.
I used to own a scooby P1, brilliant car, on track days not much came near, especially on the corners after 3 or 4 laps, the reason was that I had no brakes because the discs would overheat and hey presto, corner, no brakes, no stopping.
The Noble on the other hand, lap after lap, corner after corner, if you need the brakes they are there.
£1200.00 may sound like a lot of money, but they work, and they will stop you time after time unlike some cars that may be quick to start with but the limiting factor is often the brakes.
Champaign taste beer money, to be honest, that is what a Noble is at the start, but you need to at least taste the Champaign every now and then, in this case it is the discs.
The most important parts of any car:-
Steering
Brakes
You have to understand what you get for £1200.00.

Well what a variety of responses! Firstly, for those who believe I really thought I would expect to get a set of discs for 24.99 from Halfords....hello...I think you really have had a bad day at the office?
All I was getting at was at 600.00 per front disc alone (not pads), did seem quite expensive? Obviously, I would want to ensure that when I buy one (and then hopefully join in the 'friendly' banter), it was something to take into consideration when negotiating on purchase price.....is that not an unreasonable consideration?
It's not the money that's the issue, all I wanted to know is what kind of expenses I am letting myself in for? Unfortunately, I do not have a bottomless pit of money, nor am I on the poverty line, nor do I need to acquire a bus pass....strangely, I can't remember the last time I went on a bus!
Obviously, being of reasonable intelligence, I expect the Noble to be expensive in some areas, as some of you point out. I realise that it is not a 'normal' run of the mill car which is why I have bought a Civic Type R as a runabout.
I could just go out and buy a Cayman, trouble free motoring, reasonable costs etc BUT, being like many of you, I want something that is a bit 'special' and is a 'real' drivers car......don't worry chaps, I am sure I will be able to handle the power....compared to my bike ZX10R(0-60 = 2.5s/180mph+)...that's a motorbike in case some of you don't know (Yes, I am taking the p..s), the Noble is a kitten

If you're on a budget, I suggest you buy a carton of Bisto granules, you'll naed to make it quite thick mind, so you might only get 2 goes out of an entire tub.But when made thickly it will look much like oil, but at about 50p a throw it will save you 6.49 at least.

£120 for a pair + VAT the last time I bought them (and I have them sitting next to my desk at the moment). Pads were similar money.Hardly £24.99 I'm afraid. I think you must have missheard your dealer.
