Unless it's identical in size you won't have a chance. There is mm clearance getting it in as it is.

So it might fit "in", but you might have to cut the chassis to get it in and out....

"The Duratec 35 (code-name Cyclone) is a new 3.5 L V6 that appeared in fall 2006. It is an all-aluminum engine based on the Duratec 30, and adds variable cam timing on the intake side, a feature already found on the Jaguar AJ30 and Mazda AJ versions of the 3.0.
The Duratec 35 was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 2007.
The new heads relocate all accessory drives to the front of the engine with a flush chain drive, saving space. The new combustion chambers are reshaped as well. A dual-stage variable length intake manifold, centrally-located sparkplugs, and a 10.3:1 compression ratio are other features. The Duratec 35 is ULEV-II compliant and is said to be capable of meeting the PZEV requirement as well. The dual-stage intake manifold was part of the Duratec 30.
Engine output will eventually exceed 300 hp (224 kW), but will be 265 hp (198 kW) and 250 ft·lbf (339 N·m) at launch, a substantial upgrade in power from the Duratec 30.
The engine is the same exterior size as the Duratec 30, and should be usable in all vehicles currently using that engine and its derivatives. The company expects the engine to be used in one fifth of all Ford products by the end of the decade.
The Duratec 35 will replace the Duratec 30 in some applications (notably the Ford Taurus) by the end of that year, but the Duratec 30 will continue in production.
The Duratec 35 isn't very unique in that it will deliver its 265 hp (198 kW) rating on regular (87 octane) gasoline, when compared against its Japanese competitors of similar displacement and power levels it does quite well. Toyota's 2GR-FE makes 268 HP in the Camry, while Nissan's famed VQ series V6 makes anywhere from 255 to 270 HP (depending on application); both on regular fuel. There is a 3.7L version with 275hp/270tq, slated to go in a fwd passenger car around 2008-2009.
The Duratec 35 is expected to replace the Barra I6 engine in the Australian Ford Falcon and Ford Territory models, following the announcement that Ford Australia will close it's Geelong engine plant in 2010."

That's the point Peter, the Duratec we use has all sorts of things bolted onto it that affect it's ability to get inside the engine bay.If you look at the US build manual you'll see the gauard that Noble use to drop engines in that sits between the engine and the rear bulkhead has some very very large gouges in it.
As Phil says, you'd also need to source some major ECU development to put turbos on it. A supercharger would be easier map wise, but then where would you fit that?

Once the engine arrives it'll be going over to JEM's for a complete analysis. If it looks like a goer, then I'll be dropping it in my car over the autumn/winter.
I've got a power point presentation of the engine I can post up if anybody is interested.

You could probably get a vane (as opposed to screw) super charger in as they are relatively small,
(they look a bit like the compressor half of a turbo with a belt drive).
I suspect changing the heads for the 3.0L heads may prove more difficult than one would imagine as it sounds like the cam chain position has been changed,also there may be other issues with extra oil ways for the VVT etc.

Once the engine arrives, it'll be going to JEMS who will pull it to bits and produce a report on what they think the max output can realiably be. If it makes sense, I'll commission the work to create the components and map the engine.
Once this is done, I'll pull the 2.5L and replace it with the N/A unit. Without the turbos and a associated pipework I'm hoping to save some weight and reduce the size of the radiator.
Also, it'll be dry sumped from the outset.
I will most likely loose some outright power, but I recon I'll gain some drivabilty and reliability.
I'm just waiting on availability of the egine from Ford now.

Going through a bit of a redesign phase at the moment, as some of the original parts designed for the car will need to be ugraded as they will not be able to cope with the expected levels of stress (notably front uprights).
I've really only started working on it again in the last few weeks as I have just moved house and managed to get all the boxes out of the garage so I can get back to work on it !
Expect an update on the progress in a few weeks time.
