Nautilus Air Horn.

Mine sounds like cr4p and tonight it blew a fuse...I've had wet & dry on the contacts and put Vasaline on them too but it still sounds cr4p. What's to do?

Plenty of people use em, they work well unless you get a rock or something stuck in the horn. They're nice and loud and have a nice sound. The Hella dual supertones are just as loud, but have a nasty, dissonant sound, which may be more attention getting.

Just make sure that when you mount it that you face the horn down so that it doesn't hold water.

Did you see the new "compact" nautilus below the one you're looking at? Looks like a better bet to me. This is one of the jobs I've been meaning to do for ages too!

Sorry about the resurrection of this one.
Been looking at the Twin Tone Nautilus as my horn is just pathetic - beeped someone on Sunday and I could barely hear it. How easy are they to install, mainly with reference to the electrics.

I've got my rubber hammer at the ready .

Strange coincidence - I just bought a compact Nautilus as the existing air horn has packed in. I'm afraid I'm taking the lazy option and getting the guys at NL to fit it as the car goes in for a service and MOT on Saturday anyway.

My Nautilus was great, when fitted, but lasted about six months before becoming a feeble peep and finally a breathy wheeze...

Chucked it and fitted a bog standard electric horn.

Had one of them before the Nautilus - utterly useless and made a noise like fingernails on a blackboard...

Took it off after two days - you can have it for nowt if want it.

how many of you have wired the horn direct ?

the nautilus is supposed to have its own live - the original fan wiring is there to operate a relay

The wiring to the existing horn is up to the job.

Straight swap.

I put in the nautilus compact - nice and easy job, wiring involves no more than plugging two spade connectors, mounts on one bolt and sounds 'beefy' so no embarassing weedy parps in public
