Still thinking of getting one of the above. I notice you can buy a 2005 3R for slightly less than £40k now and a M400 for around the 45k mark.

The question is are there huge differences between the two? I may do the odd track day but for the majority of the time the car will be used for daily driving and weekend blasts. To be honest the m12 3R is more in my price range however I could stretch to the 400 if needs be.

So which should I buy?

Hey Iain,

I have had a 3R and now an M400 at present.

For me - road driving etc I see no difference in performance with my limited driving skills.... but if you intend to do track days then the M400 will perform better than a 3R as it has a few adjustments and improvements.

Internally, the M400 has a slightly better driving position - for example in the pedals - and the Sparco seats are a good improvement over the 3R.

I also tend to find the M400 back end twitches out a little more when under load - due to wet or greasy roads (like we always seem to have in Aberdeen) when accelerating and the difference in tyres.

Remember - servicing up here for a Noble is a pain.

Cheers,

joust

Hi Jaz, I spoke to you a while back over the e-mail about Nobles. Thanks again for that. Still thinking about joining the Noble club. I have found a company called Top Gear down somewhere near Edinburgh that service them, have you had any dealings with them? Apparently they already have a few on their books.

Are there any huge engine / transmission differences between the late 3r's and the m400's?

If there's only £5k between second hand values then I'd go for an M400 everytime.
