Here’s what’s involved
a) Remove the original intercooler. It’s held in the air box with 4 bolts. However, undoing them won’t let you remove it as the air box does not have enough play to get the pipes out of the holes in the ends of the box. Therefore you undo all the hose jubilee clips and unscrew 30 odd self tapping screws and the air box lifts off. Then you need to remove the rivets on one side. You can drill them and then whack them with a hammer and chisel ( that’s what I did ). Then you can remove the intercooler. Now, it looks like when the Noble intercooler was fitted in the air box the 4 bolts that hold it in place were simply put in by drilling through the air box and intercooler mounting bracket. Therefore there is a good chance that the new intercooler’s mounting bracket holes won’t line up with your air box’s. So you need to drill some new holes in the air box side walls to match the intercooler’s mounting holes. When you have done that and put the new intercooler in you can either rivet the side back on or use some smallish screws ( that’s what I did ).
b) Then simply screw the air box with the new IC installed back from whence it came and connect the hoses back up.
c) Wire it up. There are a couple of ways of doing this. But basically you need a 12V feed ( off the starter motor or the battery ) and run a wire to the IC, via a relay, which is switched via a thermocouple in the new intercooler. It’s a few wires, crimped and connected to the relay and thermocouple. You should disconnect the negative from the battery whilst you do all that as well.
That’s about it.

With a permanent feed you may well find that the fan runs on , and on due to the heat retained in the engine bay after switch off.
I certainly did so I fed the switching side of the relay off a switched ignition feed.

It does. I took it a quick trip and it did not come on. I left it on my drive, no fan. Popped it in the garage and it came on for about 15 minutes. I'm going to rewire the thermocouple to an ignition switched source.

It does. I took it a quick trip and it did not come on. I left it on my drive, no fan. Popped it in the garage and it came on for about 15 minutes. I'm going to rewire the thermocouple to an ignition switched source.
