Battery charging?

Has anyone who connects their long-term battery charger directly to the internal power socket experienced any problems with the alarm going off due to leaving a small gap in the window for the cable (due to air moving across one of the ultrasonic sensors)?

A small piece of tape over each sensor should do the trick, If of course you're sure the car is otherwise secure.

Is there no way of disabling the internal sensors? I can on my scoob.

I thought air moved at about 10hz I'll be impressed if the sensors can pick that up. (did some stuff on volumatric alarm systems about 10 years ago, concluded they dont work)

Just let the wire run over the door seal and close the door on it...problem solved.

Martin, thanks but for prolonged periods closing the door on a cable (albeit thin) could lead to sealing issues.

No chance...and at the bottom/rear it matters not. Unless you're planning on reversing at 100mph in a monsoon, of course.

agree. I just shut the cable in the door seal. I leave it for 2-3 week periods often and as long as you don't always put it in exactally the same plqace, you be hard pushed to tell where the cable was.

I leave my window very slightly open and the widest point is just above the wing mirror. No seal damage and (so far) no alarm problem.

Probably means the alarm doesn't work

I fitted a socket under the rear clam for the charger, as for the alarm going off, I recently found out it was supposed to be replaced after my bump, Garry just cut the sounder off and threw it away

My charger links into a socket under theclam as well but I have a cable going into the car running the de-humidifier jus to make sure its nice a dry inside.

Is that cause of the amount of sweat dripped into the car on the way to le mans last year?

If you arm the car and then push the buttom again and hold it down until a beep is herd.

This disables the sensors.

No as a highly traineds athlete I do tend to leak more than average
