Noble M12 GTO range from £22k-£25k
Noble M12 GTO3 range from £24k-£30k
Noble M12 GTO3R range from £30k-£43k

Soon to buy one of the above (Jan 08). Cosmetically I can see the differences but I have been trying to source the performance specs of the 3 models. Sites that claim to know differ from each other. Can anyone point me to where these details are correctly listed?

Also, from avidly reading this forum, I'm getting the impression I ought to buy a Noble with a six speed box not five, M400 linkage fitted, LSD upgrade etc. Are these upgrades worth the extra £8k+..?

I will be proudly using this car for every day use (I don't travel far to work) and will never track her.

Oh, I've also cottoned onto the fact I will sleep better having a decent warranty plan.

Would greatly appreciate any replies and V6GTO, love the colour :-)

Try
www.gto3.com

Very good site and give you most details.
I've got a GTO3 and it's fantastic. Try and stretch to a 3R as this will give you all the expensive bits and still allow a few engine/ecu/exhaust upgrades to make the car yours.

Thanks, site quickly perused and bookmarked.

There isn't much difference in the perfomace over the models, I guess it comes down to having the better bits which improve reliabilty?

Are there any particular upgrades one should definately have (or be stupid not to have, glass half full and all that)?

Cheers mate...it's good to see there are still a few people about with good taste.

Intercooler upgrade and Dump valve are no-brainers...after that it's all icing on the cake biggrin

Standard v's standard M400 will out drag a 3R easily.
The 400 has stiffer suspension, though I find it more compliant than my old Porka Turbo!!
I had the exhaust, fuel pump mod and re-map , geometry set up at Plans motorsport and then went the "whole Hog" and had all the uprights machined and shimmed for camber adjustment (camber is not adjustable as standard).
Well worth the money IMO.

Other work carried out in order of priority....
Tunnel cooling mod (stops cabin heating up when windows are open)involves re-routing a fresh air feed to heater from a front air intake in clam to a spigot attached to the central chassis tunnel cover(under heater box).
HID light conversion. Standard lights are piss poor when you need them at night!
Big intercooler with a couple of fans to reduce heat soak issues.
BOV to reduce turbo stall at high rev gear change.
Hard pipe kit.
Wheels Dymag carbon.(not a given, but nice if you have the budget).
Future, possibly uprate to Nitron / Ohlin dampers.
Hope this helps.
One thing is for sure if you buy a Noble you WILL mod it, so find one that's ready sorted for a few quid more and it will save you THOUSANDS later on.

A Roush exhaust, remapped ECU, dump Valve + a few odds and sods on a 3 or 3R will certainly give an early M400 a run for it's money.

Got it, more mods - save thousands.

This kind of thread will really help when it's decision time between 2 or 3 cars on the table.

FC - how much camber front and rear did you get dialled in?

I too am interested in the amount of camber to dial in for a Noble.

When I first bought my 3R I wanted to have the 4 wheel alignment set up just as in my JDM Impreza - the good people of TSL Motorsport near Nottingham are the perfect specialists for such things. They're a couple of ex rally drivers who run a company that sets Scoobies up to rally spec. The interesting bit occurs after the alignment is done (a process using 8 lasers apparently!) when they show you a read-out of how your wheels were facing in totally different directions, despite being within factory tolerances!!

Driving the vehicle after the set up is profoundly different, like getting into a completely different car, one that tracks straight and true. The best £150 I've ever spent on a car.

Last time I spoke to them they were entertaining the idea of setting up other marques. They suggested they would enjoy doing a Noble so long as they had some factory settings to base their alignment and camber on. They also mentioned the need for the car to have modifications done before set-up could take place.

Be interested to know how much having "all the uprights machined and shimmed for camber adjustment" cost, if you don't mind sharing?

I think about 1500, was going to have it done, Roush gave me that cost.

£1500 was the price I was quoted but I got a "deal" as I had the exhaust and pump done at the same time.
