Problem with rough running
Discussion
I took the Noble out yesterday after not driving her for what seems like ages because of the very wet weather we've had. It ran like a bag of spanners - hanging back, wouldn't accelerate and seemed to be miss-firing; very lumpy running indeed.
Anyway ran for about 8 to 10 miles and once warm it slowly cleared and ran fine with just momentary hesitation here and there when putting the right foot down. Any ideas or anyone had similar problems?
Someone has suggested that it could be damp in the distributor cap? My garage isn't heated and it has been very wet and damp for weeks around here. We haven't seen that yellow thing in the sky for months.
Any help and advice would be gratefully received...

Sounds like it's got damp somewhere, remove the obvious and have a look, distributor cap seems a good place to start.
After you've had a good look, get yourself some WD40 and spray all the leads/cap/coil, etc etc.
Then give it another good blast.
On the garage front, if you think that this is getting damp and affecting the car, then buy a de-humidifier, they're not expensive and boy do they work.

could also be plugs - engine dosn't tend to run too smoothly if they are damp/oily and/or old. After it's cooled down try going for a run again. If it was just a 'damp thing' from excessive sitting around then it should be fine (or a lot better) second time round. If it does the same thing then you'll have to rethink.

Hi, i had the same problem as this when i first got the noble. After a night of heavy rain, i took the car out the next moring, it started up fine but after travelling around 3miles, i went though the same issues you did. After that weekend i got myself a car cover and the car has never done that again. That happened way back in July, the car has never had that problem ever since then. Anyway ran for about 8 to 10 miles and once warm it slowly cleared and ran fine with just momentary hesitation here and there when putting the right foot down. Any ideas or anyone had similar problems?

Steve.
A suggested dehumidifier for a garage is this one:Steve.

It works down to 1 degrees C, and you can attach a pipe to it to drain outside so you don't have to keep emptying it. It has a couple of best buy ratings from car mags too. Although not the cheapest, it does a good job.

First item on the list is ordered - 1 dehumidifier - thanks Steve/Conrad steve1 said:

I've had that 3 times now. First time it was stood out in the pissing rain all night, then I drove 50 miles the next day with no trouble then it all started, misfiring, not pulling etc. I stopped for a few minutes, started it up and it was fine. Then it did it again after being washed with a hose that was rather powerful. Then again after a night in the pouring rain. The last time I had it serviced the dealer said they found water in the plug wells. It's not done it since but it's not been driven too much since it's last service.

not a great fan of dehumidifers had them in the early days and still found my discs and things getting surface rust.talking to some of the classic car concourse people they suggested 2 moving fans, one at the front and one at the back .think its all to do with air movement.done this now for several years and the car is totally dry even paper stays crisp instead of that mushy feel it gets when damp.not had any dehumidifiers in recnt years so could be much better now
