Failed the noise test today at Bedford.
Having spent all last night in the freezing cold changing wheels, checking oil and everything, getting up at 6.30 and driving to Bedford, you can imagine how pissed off I was when they told me the exhaust was measuring 105db static!! (101 limit)
They then drive the car past the on track meter where it hit 91.4 db driveby! (87.5 limit)
I understand that todays conditions (high pressure, cold day) are about as bad as it gets, but I'm certainly a bit miffed that my expensive new exhaust is that far over the db limits! Not great for an aftermarket exhaust on a trackday car, even though its damn brilliant in all other respects.
I feel a set of quiet pipes may berequired. Anyone have a pair?? Phil B? Ash?

Track day noise restrictions are amazingly stupid to my mind. A couple of years ago I was nearly not allowed to have my last car ( Esprit V8 ) on the track at Vmax because it was too loud. I mean, it had just passed it's MOT and is legal to drive on the road but not on a track. How bloody stupid is that ?
I thought Bedford was one of the "ok" ones. Been there 3 or 4 times, post new exhaust, with no probs and managed a day at Donny with just the one smacked wrist when I hit the limiter right next to a sensor. 
Hopefully the quiet pipes will fix the problem, just wish I'd taken some with me. Such a dissapointment to get all set up for a day and then not be allowed out! Could have cried!

Exactly. Just encourages us to do our thing on the roads more. If the residents don't like it then they shouldn't have moved next to a race circuit. Surely?Mr Noble said:

I live nearby (but can't hear it). Funny thing is that before Dr Palmer got it, it was nearly another London airport. Now we all know a 777 is less than 100dB don't we? The other thing that narks me is the big sprred bumps on the way in.
