Finally picked my new toy up today, and what a day to try it out,
Thoroughly enjoyed the drive home, will be back out again 2morrow.
Thanx to Steve, ( he knows who he is ), for doing the deal, good luck with the search for your new toy.
A couple of questions, can someone tell me where the horn is, not the button, the actual horn, it doesn't work, although the relay in the passenger footwell is clicking.
Also, the handbrake is not holding, I haven't looked yet, but is this a normal handbrake arrangement, shoes within the disc.
I also noticed that there was a faint smell of fumes in the car, oily rather than petrol, could this be a breather blocked somewhere.

The handrake shoes are inside the rear discs, my handbrake was crap when I got mine and stripped the rear discs off to properly adjust and found what was left of the shoe lining in the bottom of the drum. The previous servicing dealer had obviously over adjusted the brake (and not even bothered to check the shoes on the service). I'd recommend stripping to check the're OK, if so the cable adjustment is behind a little cover behind the passenger seat, slacken it off adjust up the shoes in the drum and finally set the cable adjustment. I replaced the shoes on mine and the handbrake is now pie hot.
If you are getting a 'hot' smell when driving with the window down this is normal although it can be sorted by routing another air feed into the transmission tunnel.
The horn is in front of the passenger wheel, it gets caked in road dirt so its probably dirty connection, try cleaning them first.

Is it a 2.5? Can't speak for the later cars, but my 2.5 linkage is sh1t. I'm about to reverse engineer a M400 linkage ready for my engine swap.Steve.

You can have the M400 linkage fitted which is lovely, like a rifle bolt action. Its about £2500 all in though as the tunnel needs modding and there is re-upholstery to do. Been thinking about it for 2 years, but can't really justify that much expenditure on a mod thats not really that necessary. Steve.

Horn (at least on 2.5) is in front of the drivers wheel. The gear change on mine I quite like. The M400 linkage on a mates car was hard to get used to. But I'm sure once your used to it its great. However. Mine had an issue where the 3 bolts under the plast gear surround had come loose so gear change became awfull.

Fiamm Nautilus is the preferred weapon of choice in the horn Dep't it will fit right where yours is/isn't.Thoroughly enjoyed the drive home, will be back out again 2morrow.

I tried a few 3R's and the gear shift in all were a bit "loose".
TBH it's one of the reasons went for an M400.
If you can afford it I'd mod it.
As mentioned smell inside the car can be due to driving with the window down, did your hand brake and gear knob heat up?
If so the centre tunnel ventilation from one of the front air intakes will cure this.

I've had the M400 gear linkage on my 3R from new. I'd only driven it 1 mile when I let Rob (AMGMerc) try it. I'll let him tell you what the difference is like 
Along with the M400 steering linkage and M400 front anti-roll bar (not to mention the Polynesian Metallic paint and 100% alcantara interior
) my 3R is pretty special

I had a bit of a mooch around the electrics on mine and decided that the horn was relay activated and would probably handle the extra current draw.Thanks
I fitted the Nautilus over a year ago with no ill effect whatsoever.
Caveat. If you're the type of bloke who likes to honk his horn to scare old ladies to death every two minutes, then I can't vouch for the wiring looms integrity over a sustained honking frenzy, that said I don't think you'll do any harm.
