lap time around the ring

I'm taking mine out there in June. Not having driven the Ring before, as I understand it you can't complete a whole lap on days that are open to the public, as they filter you off the track before the lap ends?
This being the case, I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for places to start and finish timing your 'laps' to compare with others?
