Very Intermittent Power Loss

Hi All,

Once accelerating near full chat in 3rd (say at around 6.5K revs) a loss of power for 1/4 second or so.

Three times recently flat out acceleration (say 7K revs) third to fourth up change a similar loss of power.

It's not little pipe that needs pushing right in and then pulling out a little (you can tell I'm PhD in mechanics can't you).
I thought it might be the spring in the BOV?
Any other ideas?

sounds like plugs or dodgy battery/alternator

Hi Adrian,

Just had the battery turned and wrapped (as well as exhaust wrap) because it was beginning to suffer heat damage from the roush exhaust. So I'll have that checked first.

It had new plugs 1500 miles ago so they should be OK

Slightly corroded coil pack was a cause of this for me.
Only ever occurred when pushing really hard.

If it was this morning and it was frosty where you are it was probably hiting overboost, when this happens it cuts the ignition. If not the plug gaps are too wide.

Sounds like plugs to me -either gaps need adjusting or they're just plain knackered. I've had a set last less than 2000 miles, but admittedly that was with a fair amount of tracking in hot weather.

Had something very similar recently, thanx to the guys on here it was solved by re-gapping the plugs, need to be 40 thou. MAX.
