M400 - Rear Tyres

Evening guys,

Just found my 8k mile - 3 year old M400 needs the rears replaced. Never tracked.

Wear is smack bang in the middle of the tyre.

Over inflation perhaps?

I've never seen that so that's highly likely. Although 8k is very good for corsas (they have a wear rating that is very low compared to normal tyres).

I would agree with J.

I always had even wear, constantly check your pressures. I also had mine filled with Nitrogen, worked for me, some people disagree.

The car was designed on Corsas, when I had mine I would only ever put on what the manufacturer states.

Why? The suspension on the M400 is harder than the M12, e.g. put Corsas on an M12, they hit the bump stops.

This means they have stiffer side walls.

In short, stick with the Corsas, the suspension is tuned for them.

Toyo R888 are a reasonable alternative and unlike Corsa's seem to be available and cheaper!!

i run 888's as well, which i've found fantastic tyres

also about half the price of a set of corsas

CHEAP is not always the best.

I wish people would look up the word "CHEAP" in the English Dictionary:-

e.g. shoddiness, inferiority, showy imitation.

No offence, I just think people use the word "CHEAP" incorrectly.

Less expensive, value for money, no problem.

Cheap to me says inferior, badly made, cr@p etc.

Got to agree with GTO400.

I've had Toyo R888 tyres on for a while now and find them to be very good. They seem better than Corsas in the wet, and certainly no worse in the dry. When it comes to replacing them, I'll definitely be putting more R888s on.

I guess rather than calling them cheap, you could say they are a quality tyre that happens to be less expensive than the Corsas - Oh, and you can actually get hold of them easily too!

They are a bloody good tyre (cheap or not). I got price from Camskill and then got my local Toyo dealer to price match.

Now thats the way to do it

I still think that once on track an M400 Corsas will eat an M400 with R888s on.

But now I can't prove it as I no longer own an M400
