Yesterday i was stationary waiting for the traffic lights to change when a policeman put his head through the passenger window and asked me to pull over.

I did not think i was speeding prior scratchchin so i was not too worried.

I got out of the car and he asked if it was my car etc then started asking technical questions about engine size, BHP and also its position around the Top Gear track smile Nice guys

Also yesterday i spotted an orange Farbio going through Camden, London

laugh i pulled the car onto some random persons front driveway. God knows what the residents of that house were thinking if they had looked out their front window

Yeah, I heard they often stop dodgy-looking characters and ask questions to see if they can catch them out. "What make of car is this, squire?" "Err, not sure officer" - "Right, you're nicked!".

I was cleaning the car one day last summer. A police chopper flew overhead, then came back and circled round and round for about 3 or 4 minutes.

Ten minutes later a marked car come into view and I thought about whether I'd been a bit silly and was due a knuckle wrapping. Ended up talking for half an hour about the best places to speed and where the police turn a blind eye (his words) biggrin.

Got followed at about 11:30 pm , stone cold sober at night driving at exactly 30 mph (I spotted him coming out of the side road ) for about 4 miles , he then stops me as he was "worried that it might be stolen and was just looking after my interests " then his mate in a plain car turned up as well for a shufty . Begs the question , what sort of thief drives slowly for 4 miles BACK towards the owners address and is within 100 yds when he gets pulled ? (bearing in mind you can be sure he was checking address etc before pulling me ) . To be fair , I clocked it for what it was , 2 cops fancying having a look at a nice car on a quiet night ! smile

Right, some are petrolheads like us and they must get bored on night shifts.

I've been stopped a few times and don't mind, given that if it was nicked it would be in my interest for them to do the same.

Most that seem to stop you are just like petrol station gawpers - nice and interested in the car!

Also been pulled - they said that I was doing 43mph in a 40 zone so that technically gave them an excuse to stop me but they just wanted a look at the car. I didn't mind as I wasn't in a rush to get anywhere at the time.

I can not believe for a moment that plod will stop you because he is a car nut. They told me it was a tyre and light check, and sure enough I had one in each corner biggrin

In some areas of the South Coast wink

Having said that, Sussex police have apparently been under a bit of pressure to increase the anti-speed policing since I moved away about a year and a half ago. So it may not be so safe now....
