Well, as I'm laid up temporarily, I'm conducting some research on which way to go with my engine build.

Has anyone got any info or links on the 3.5 or 3.7 cyclone Duratec engines (compatability for transplant wise)?

Also, has anyone looked if the VVT systems used on either the Jaguar, or Mazda variant engines could be carried across?

Anyone with photographs of heads or particularly engine blocks/decks that they could send me would be welcomed? Even if only from 2.5L or 3.0L Noble applications?

I seem to remember chatting out these when Adrian's and my engine were being developed. The conclusion was that using the Jag VVT system without the original ECU would be difficult (and well beyond what the MBE one could cope with), and you'd be mapping the system from scratch.

As we were going the turbo route the other concideration was the Jag crank was still only good for 500bhp ish, so no better than the Noble one. I can see the point if you're going NA and keeping the Jag ECU, but otherwise....

Wasn't Jools going NA on his at one point?

I thought there was some stuff on the bigger engine on the Nobleforums website.

Yep, some of the LMP1 cars use the Jag engine on trottle bodies and get it to rev to 10k with a steel crank, but a very expensive project, at the time i decided if i grenade mine this is the way id go next.

email Jools (joolski)

He got quite a way down the line of putting a normally aspirated 3.5 in his i think.

Wouldn't be using MBE anyway, will be on a generic ECU, with almost limitless capability, custom loom can be made easy enough either with or without VVT, so the main concern would be mechanical fit/compatability of the heads and valve control system?

OK, will look at cranks when we spec other internals and do blueprinting Etc, so again, not a limiting factor? Keep any suggestions on supporting materials images or otherwise coming and they'll all be considered. biggrin

Mike, I could be wrong, but the Rossion in the USA might be using the 3.5.
Should be out in the next couple of months, might be worth waiting, as then AER will be selling it as a package for the "Noble" but i could be totally mis-informed.
