Hi all,
Firsly, new to the forum so hello!!
I bought a 2002 M12 a year ago (the one that was in gumball 2002),only done 20K miles, had full Noble service history and it had just had a major service done at west tuning. Took it for its MOT the other week and it failed on emmisions so took it to west for next service and to solve the high CO (5.8%). I had an advisory on front ball joints and track rod ends so asked him to change the lot, change a noisy tensioner pulley and 30K service. He told me the CO was high because of 2 cracked exhaust manifolds and quoted £2800 to do the lot. Now he has done that the CO is still high and he says the ECU is an omex but is not setup properly so wants £850 to re-map and the rear turbo has failed so will be £1000 for turbo and £400 to fit. That is a total bill of over £5K
Does that price sound right?????

Upgraded Manifolds are circa £150 each, fit them yourself. The Turbo will be off anyway, so do that yourself too Can't tell you how much they cost. Remap, Speak to Trevor at Roush. Much cheaper and will do a proper job.
No matter what you do, speak to Roush in the South or Noble Motor sport in the North and get a second opinion.

If it's had some OMEX ECU fitted I doubt if Trevor will be interested...for small amounts of money anyway. Probably is a start mapping from scratch job, and £850 for it isn't unbelievable.Rob.

He has fitted the manifolds, serviced and fitted ball joins/track rod ends now so will pay the £2800, get the car back, take the turbo off and get it re-conditioned then find someone to re-map. I will be in touch tomorrow Bondy, i live in Lymington so somewhere down this way would be handy. Have to be a member for 24 hours before i can PM you. Anyone had a turbo re-conditioned, good places to recomend??? I think it will only need seals and bearings so should be less than £1000, It was only £900 for my Integrale with a cracked casing and had a 360 degree bearing put in!!

£2,800 for a couple of manifolds?
£1,400 for a single turbo rebuild?
Sounds incredibly high to me.
I think you need to ask Ray to explain things if you are unsure. He has worked on a number of my cars (Noble included) and I can't fault him. He is not the cheapest or the quickest in the world (the fact that he is very busy is a good sign) - but he does a very good job imo. With regards to re-mapping he will do a proper job - not just a flyby night flash!
He got just under 400 BHP out of my 3L Noble without even touching the ecu... (Rousch exhuast plus accuator trickery).
Changing the manifolds is a pig of a job and takes time - sometimes studs are affected which will increase the price.
As for turbo's send it off to Universal and they will swap it for a reconditioned one if you are in a hurry.
He got just under 400 BHP out of my 3L Noble without even touching the ecu... (Rousch exhuast plus accuator trickery).

I had an Omex on mine - 700 series. It was done by JNM.
I personally would recommend Universal Turbos for the repair or exchange, have used them a few times before & as you are probably aware they developed the original turbos, so who better to look at yours, their contact number is 01425 656900, like me your quite local to them so they will probably even come & collect direct from yourselves as they do with me
